Probably a question thats been asked on here a million times, but after searching for 20 mins + I cant find an answer.

Do the reverse lights on a Octavia use the Canbus system?

I have replaced all my sidelights, numberplate lights, interior lights etc today with canbus friendly ones and have no problems.

But then I fitted a set of LED reverse bulbs I had lying about from my old octavia and encountered my 1st problem.

The bulb warning light comes on on the dash, and when I select reverse the bulbs flick on for about a second then go off.

Because of what I have said I am 99.9% sure they need to be canbus friendly, but if anyone can confirm this then I would appreciate it.

The fact that they activate your 'bulb warning light' must mean they are monitored by the CANBUS system.

I always thought the light emitted from LED bulbs was very directional, will this not therefore reduce visibility rather than improve it?

Yes the bulbs need to be CanBus friendly or you need to put resistors in

Put the normal bulb back in?

Yeah silver they are directional, but the ones I have are a cluster of SMDs fitted onto the bulb holder.

They are actually brighter than the standard bulbs, especially in the dark.

Yeah Alberg, thats exactly what its supposed to look like, will sort some CANBUS friendly ones out today.

Didnt think it would matter for reverse bulbs, but I suppose nothing is ever easy and simple is it lol

Mine are basically the same and aren´t can-bus, soo are the ones you order.

I will show a picture later how to eliminate the error and show error case the bulb stops working.

Those bulbs look great to be put on the DRL (non vrs models)
