Instrument Cluster surround is vibrating...i think anyway

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

It seems the clear plastic surround is vibrating like crazy. Either that or the piece of plastic that sits over the top of the steering column.

Does anyone have the same problem??? Any solutions..?

I had it where the plastic above the speedo was vibrating against the dashboard. Was driving me mad, so I shoved some strips of cloth in between the gap, using a blunt knife to carefully poke it all in. I can't see the cloth from the drivers seat and it stopped my vibration.

You can probably use whatever soft material you have to hand, blue tac, sticky pads etc should all help to absorb the vibration...

I had the same. I put some draught excluder tape around the whole thing. It has started rattling again very recently though, so I think I might have to get some cloth around it as suggested!

yes my piece of trim above the steering column rattles occasionally.

Either push it in or pull it out a bit to stop it.

Draft excluder tape or blu tack is my preferred solution for trim rattles

On my Fabia its the plastic underneath the steering column that rattles, it took me a whole year to find the rattle as I thought it sounded like it was coming from higher up in the car. When it starts to rattle I just push or pull the plastic under the steering column either to the left or right and it goes away.

.

Mine does this now and again. However I have a rattle that sounds like a ping pong ball rattling around somewhere underneath the gear stick.
