Another daft question from myself, where is the coolant temp sender located in the vrs engine bay? I had a quick look last night couldnt find it it was pitch black though? My em light came on last night so vag commed the car and got two faults relateing to the cts p118 and p1296 plus the car was struggleing to start when warm and had very irratic idleing.

I knw this subject has been covered a million times on here but i dont have internet access at home just now and i can only use my phone and it aint great for searching etc.

Take both plastic engine covers off and its on the end of the cylinder head on the right hand side poking out of the top of the coolant pipe.

See the picture below. The arrow points to the clip which needs pulling sideways to release the sender.

A Haynes manual is ideal for this sort of thing.
