only one i know of,i got a quote off them thinking i'd get it cheaper.I almost collapsed when i got a quote, lets just say i'm staying with More Than..

The Skoda website has an insurance page under "Owners" tag. The underwriters are Allianz Insurance Plc. I've not used them to date but you can get a quote online using their link.

Tesco are reasonable and seem to be mod friendly too

Tesco charged my wife an admin fee and a premium increase for fitting standard size steel wheels and winter tyres. There will be another admin fee for changing back to the alloys.

Once they are changed back we will be writing to their head office to complain and try and get the money back. The response will of course help us decide where to go come renewal time.

Cheers

I find this insurance lark just a pure rip off really,i mean to charge for changing to winter tyres in winter so you're safer on the road just stinks, and then charge you to change back again..

Yes we live in Britain, rip off of Nation.

I think to be fair the biggest rip-off in insurance terms is the number of free-loading motorists driving around without any cover. Those of us who do pay are paying to cover their risk too. Enforcement is so time-consuming that the Police can do little to stem the tide.

Interesting, there was no premium increase for me changing to a vRS TSI from a vRS TDI and that included all the mods I am planning too (remap, suspension, induction kit, wheel spacers). My excess went up but that was it.

I've just insured with Skoda (Allianz). Having shopped around, it's clear to me that prices have gone up significantly this year.

'10 Petrol vRS Estate with a few extras. I'm early forties, no pts, 10 years NCB, car parked on drive, £100 excess. £580 with one off payment.

Was overall quite pleased with that. Their customer service appeared very good with friendly, helpful & knowledgable staff.

Of course, this would be tested for real in the event of a claim!

(claimed with Admiral a couple of years ago and they were awful - couldn't have more obstructive & difficult if they'd tried!)

You will get those who don't want to pay and they should be dealt with, but it's easier to go after the law abiding person isn't it,and hit them in the pocket to pay out more.

On the other side of the coin you got young drivers now who are being charged/quoted a couple grand on cars that are only worth a few hundred quid..

A lad by me wanted a car to go to college etc.it was a 1.2 ltr citroen saxo,no mods only worth a few hundred quid if that.He couldn't get a quote for less than £3000,so he takes the bus instead and had his licence 2 yrs now,not been able to own a car because he can't afford/won't pay that amount for a car that's only worth about £400..

Very shortly the Government will be bringing in a system similar to road tax whereby the car has to be insured even if it's kept off-road, unless a 'SORN' type declaration is made. I don't know what that will do to catch non-insurers because most of them don't register the car in their own name.

I'm with More Than and got my renewal through last week,£586 which i am surprised at,as i have actually been given a discount. That Skoda insurance want over £1000.00 to insure my vrs :finger: ..I'm 31 and 9-10 yrs ncb,car on drive.Been with more than 2 yrs now,and i have actually found them to be very good compared to some of the rip off merchants that wanted £1500.00 and More Than can do the same vehicle for £586.00 i already wrote the cheque

Think you've done very well there Dolla. Good effort!

It's certainly a lottery. Postcode plays a part I guess, but staying with the same company can sometimes pay off too!

Try NFU - very helpful in my experience.

Yep i reckon i have..

My sisters insurance wanted an extra £200.00 this year, she kindly told them to Feck off,Got it less with RAC and because she has RAC breakdown they gave her a further discount on insurance,of course RAC won't as far as i know tell you this. But if you tell them you have breakdown cover, they give you a discount on insurance 25% i think the discount is..
