Fabia Mod's

Featured Replies

Just looking at some of the links in the Skoda styling thread below I was wondering whether anybody has modified the interior of the Fabia. I know a few of you have done what is known as the 'boy racer' modifications ie the suspension lowered the wheels bigger and a nice exhaust but has anybody touched the interior or the more 'minor' parts of the car. I had a look at the Silver Dials and thought they would look nice and there not that expensive at about

Personally, I'm not too bothered about tarting up the interior on my Fabia. IMHO most of the styling parts I have seen around for the Fabia are all a bit "Halfords" shall we say.

As long as i've got a decent sounding stereo and the interior is comfortable and everything works as it should - I'm happy!

I did buy some plastic door sill protectors from my local Skoda dealer and a leather gear knob too, but thats about it.

:D

You can probably get chrome rings for round the dials... i assume a Fabia dash is the same as a Polo - Golf and Octavia share dials..

what do you mean by interior mods..?

neons - will go on any car

stereo - see the ice section

retrim - exepensive but stunning if done properly..

nobs - either halford or vRS parts bin

when it comes to the little bits like lock pins etc check out the Dub mags... most parts are shared....

Well what I mean by interior mod's is things like Chrome dials, radios, scuff strips and adding metal bit's in place of plastic bits around the air vents etc. However I would be interested to hear whether anybosy has gone futher and installed armrests, new centre consoles, new pedals etc.

Hmm - strange how us Fabia TDI drivers think alike. This is the reason why I've done nowt to the inside apart from put a CD player in...

As for bigger wheels... oh yeaaaah!

im sure you could fit the metallic gear nob from a vRS - i assume the new fabia vRS has similir metalic facia..

door sill and trims - look at polo kit..

maybe you could get the polo dash to fit... although im not sure of the point!

Colin,

Top of my "if I had the money" list would be changing the seats and door cards - as I've said before, I really can't stand the light-yellow skyscraper look! At the end of the day it makes b*gger all difference I know, but I'd love a plain black interior, or perhaps the seats out of the fabia wrc when it comes out :)

The only changes I've made to the interior are:

* 2 alloy tax disc holders (one for tax, one for work parking permit)

* Leather gear knob

* Kenwood head unit

I did dabble with painting the airvent surrounds silver - looks very trick, but unfortunately is not a Good Thing to attempt when you know little about spray painting or protecting the paint after application - I ended up with the paint being on too thick so the vents stuck open and the paint scratched off. Ended up buying replacement airvents - complete set costs about

I did find a company that actually did a variety of trims for the

Octavia (not sure on Fabia though), such as brushed aluminimium

and that, all rather like the aftermarket wood trim Skoda offer.

Sent off an enquiring e-mail , had a reply after 3 months asking

for my address to send me a sample.

Unfortunately, I no longer live at that address, but I can't be

bothered chasing it up...

Rob.

I've got to admit the CD player is very tempting and I am really considering this. It was soming I was going to add immidiatly after we bought the car but well I forgot and got to live with a cassette adapter and a portable CD running off the Cigarette lighter. However since I fried the fag lighter with it, and the miles of cable and technology in the glovebox I started to consider an ICE system more and more. That one will be sorted soon. However it was just somebodys little comment about it's a bit bland inside that made me wonder if anybody had done anything. Maybe, a CD player, doorsill protectors are the priorities. Cheers.

- I promise to let you know when I get my test drive. Already booked in for first refusal.

Fabia peeps

Remember if you want to fit a Fabia vRS gearknob to your car , that the vRS will be a 6 speed car , just dont try and find 6th on the Mway!!!!

 Finding sixth... I'm lucky that with my car's gearing its so damn quiet at m-way speed, that I rarely look for 6th. However, if I drive Dad's car, I'm always looking down thinking, "Is this bloody thing still in 4th?" I'm just not used to driving petrol cars anymore.

PS: I haven't said anything about you leaving, yet. Good luck. Just five more days of Skud power, eh? Hope you'll be happy with the Mitsubishi. There's always the upgrade possibility of a Starion, if the Lancer begins to feel a little gutless compared to the vRS. :D

A Starion?...yeah id love one if it was still around 1990 and they all hadnt rotted away!! Plus you'd have to run them on that horrible LRP petrol , which is not good for a Turbo motor. (Having said that , anyone with a white , wide body Starion with under 60K on the clock and no rot...get in touch!!) PS my dealer has just gotten a 99 V Galant VR4 Tiptronic in for sale , around 14K. Its the Lux model not the sport , therefore has the light tan leather seats (no recaros) 16 inch wheels and a half wood/leather Nardi steering wheel. (Sport gets recaros , but not full leather , a momo wheel and 17s) All I can say is its a good job i havent got any money or it would be mine!!!
