Featured Replies

well after along wait the car has eventually arrived at the dealers on friday. is there anything i need check for/request before i collect the car i the week. i have seen a few threads on here regarding the central locking which may require coding etc. i've ordered a 1.2tsi dsg elegance hatch. thanks for any help on the matter

Make sure DRL's (if applicable) are turned off or on depending on your preference.

Mats installed.

Thats all i can think of.

If it's waiting for you in the showroom, make sure some numpty hasn't scratched it with rings/watch while looking at it thinking it's a demo car.

check the doors lock when you start driving if you want this feature. it can only be done at the dealers.

The DRL's is a simple switch in the fuse box, but ask them to show you where it is anyway.

thanks for your replies-i'm phoning the dealer tomorrow and asking for the auto locking to be activated-i'm true in believing that when you turn the ignition off the doors will also auto unlock rather than to press the unlock button in the car. i do a inspection as well on the body work. and i specced the mdi interface but in both brochures (oct 2010 and jan2011) and cant see any reference to a lead being included

No auto unlock pull door handle twice. 1 to unlock 2 to open

They should be able to code for auto unlock as well as atuo locking. As for the MDI interface you have to ask for the lead as they are supplied separately at extra cost with the specific ends for what you want to connect. If you have the brochure then I suggest you look at the options list and it should tell you what you can get.

Hi

I can confirm that if you require 'auto-unlock' the dealer will need to code it to do so. My wife's Fabia 1.6 CR Elegance she got in September was coded to 'auto-lock' and subsequently had to be coded to 'auto-unlock' because of the hassle of manually unlocking using the unlock button - e.g. when our grandchildren were in the back WE could get out by pulling on our door handles but the rear doors remained locked from outside UNLESS we had remembered to double clicked the unlock button........!! (The car was set up to unlock only the driver's door with 1 press of the key fob other doors with 2nd press of the key fob.)

MUCH easier now with auto-unlock......!!!

i see it comes with the drivers pack but as i was ordering the elegence model i added it as a seperate extra, so i take it should come with it then. sorry to sound stupid lol

I wish you could set it to auto unlock only those doors which had been opened. My car auto unlocks the drivers door which is great the 95% of the time when it's just me in the car. The other 5% of the time I have to remember to quickly unlock the doors to stop people trying to reef the handle off the door (as they don't know they have to pull twice)

i begin to think some of the dealers arnt sure

what comes with what .

they also seem to have limited knowledge

of the maxi dot capabilites

and other inner workings

if it wasnt for forums we wouldnt have a clue

Congrats on buying a great car

We appear to have another 'Intelligent' car buyer amoung us!

Glad to hear you car has arrived.

My vRS arrived at the dealership on monday and hopefuly i'l be able to pick it up on saturday.

Going to miss my Mk1 vRS, but its going to a good home, my brother.

You should be able to have auto unlock when the key is removed from the ignition

Sorry to be thick but what does auto unlock entail?

Does it mean you just pull once or does it unlock under a certain speed?

Would like to know as last few cars have had this function whereby they lock on moving off and just unlock when pulling the interior handle as if to get out normally.
