1.2 Camshaft Sensor - DIY Job?

Featured Replies

The fabia 1.2 has died. Wor lass is currently being recovered by the aa who have diagnosed a faulty camshaft sensor. She had said it was down on power earlier, wouldnt't rev above 3000' then wouldnt start. The aa guy managed to get it started, but it wouldn't run.

So is the sensor possible to replace as a diy job, seems to be only £25 off the web, or does it need diagnostics are plugging into a computer?

I have no idea what the aa plan to do or where they are taking the car.....

Sensor now changed. Still has management light on, won't rev above 3000 and likes stalling. I'm battling to get vagcom working to see if i can get the codes reset :wall:

Update, just incase anyone has a similar problem and searchs it.

The engine management should reset with the new cam sensor without using vagcom. However, our cam sensor wasn't faulty. It was reading correctly and reporting that the timing was out, the timing chain had jumped. New chain and labour including ther associated bits, £388.
