Dension iPod Kit issues

Featured Replies

Hi all,

When I bought my vRS, it came with the standard CD stereo and someone had added proper iPod integration with the proprietary iPod connector in the glove box... I assume it's likely to be some sort of Dension system?

Everything works - but annoyingly the sound of the turbo seems to come through the speakers when it's on iPod mode - as if it's picking up interference. It's not always noticeable, but during a quiet bit of a song you can definitely hear it. Also - possibly a contributing factor - the volume is slightly quieter on the iPod than on CD or Radio so I have to turn it up quite a lot to even hear it - probably amplifying the interference in the process.

Anyone else got one of these kits? Had similar problems?

Thanks,

Andrew

hi,i had a denison kit in my audi s3,in fact i had both types, there is one that uses your cd changer port and one that is a (higher than normal quality) fm mode type.

the cd port is an amazing sound quality. but you lose you cd changer(unless they have a multifunction lead invented)to join them.

the fm is poor quality type....thats why its quiet.

the best thing to do would be to change it for the cd port one.with loads of tracks on ipods who wants cd now anyway?? download quality is higher now too. or get an alpine bt 103.it has phone kit on bluetooth too!and a cd slot!

It comes up on the stereo as CD changer, so surely it's not the FM type?

Hi naxtek, it could be a Connects2 device and I've got this one. I can change tracks etc via the standard head unit.

The device is good but I do suffer with a little interference but don't really notice it unless it's quiet - I've just learnt to live with it to be honest! The sound quality isn't so good but it's dependent on the quality of the source so you could try improving the quality of the tracks on the iPod. I've also noticed that some of my older burnt CDs don't sound as good as some newer - I'm sure that there is a technical reason for this?! :)

if it runs through the cd then it must be the cd one?

maybe i forgot any interferance from the better quality one? its definitaly the better of the two type though,i had the dock though, like a phone dock.

the alpine 103bt is silent,if you wanted to change things about.

:)

i've got the Connects2 iPod kit in mine, you can hear a little bit of the turbo whine through the stereo on quiet songs but i've just kinda got used to it. it connects into the CD changer port in the head unit and the cable is running into the storage area under the radio. you can also use the controls on the head unit to change tracks too.
