OEM symphony stereo issue

Featured Replies

Hey folks, forgive me if this has been covered before, i've used the search bar but found nothing directly relating to this problem so any help would be greatly appriciated.....

when I bought my fabia vrs a few weeks ago the standard headunit would not hold the radio code requiring it to be entered every time the ignition was turned off/on this was a simple fix, I removed the h/u and found an aftermarket ISO adapter loom which had obviously switched the permenant and ignition lives, with this removed and the code entered again all was well.......

Except that the stereo doesn't turn off or on unless done so manually, i've tried all combinations of turning the stereo and ignition off in an attempt to "sync" them with no luck, every time you get in the car you have to turn the stereo on by the button and every time you take the key out it stays on until you turn it off by the button, I've owned dozens of VAG vehicles, none of which do this, surely it isn't a fabia specific feature !?!?!

Anyway any thoughts are gratefully received, thanks in advance for you help.

It's not sensing ignition key removal, so at least one wire is still wrong.

there's a thought....the standard loom looked un-touched but I suppose it's easy to change the pin positions around and leave it looking OE, any ideas on the colour/notation of said wire ? thanks for the suggestion

Best I could find I'm afraid

Edit: Found plug wiring colours in Skoda PDF

Pin 1 White/Purple Tracer Speed Signal

Pin 3 Grey/White Tracer K Diagnosis wire

Pin 4 Brown/Red Tracer Positive connection

Pin 5 Black/Blue Tracer Positive Connection

Pin 6 Grey?Blue Tracer Positive Connection

Pin 7 Black/Blue Tracer Positive Connection

So you need to check Pins 4 5 6 7 for correct colour sequence.

check the radio manual - there is a setting on the radio to recognise the ignition. If you go into the menu you should find it

"KEY" is the setting.

The manual is on here - http://www.carcommunications.technisat.com/?modul=produkte&seite=1

Page 12 for how to access the setup menu, page 14 for a description of "KEY".
