Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Cruise not working! Any known fault / cause.

Had same problem on my A4 & found it to be the clutch switch. Sorted f.o.c. except few quid for reset  .

Is there likely to be some similar cause / solution with a dsg? I have looked under pedal but cannot see anything resembling switch. Maybe not looking in right place??? Shed any light please!

Do you use the on/off switch on the indicator stalk to turn the cruise on and off ?

These switches are known to fail / contacts get dirty, so the switch fails to work, so this could be causing your problems.

I'm pretty sure someone posted a guide on how to clean this switch.

I'd heard about it, so tend not to use the switch and just cancel it using the brake/clutch pedal.

Only just got the car last sat so there is option to go back to garage. hastle though & time. Can you point me to the guide, and do you know if there is still a pedal switch of some kind? Logic would say yes imo. Cheers.

doesnt help... ive tried that aswell and it still gets dirty :-( every time i take it out and clean it, and it then works again up to 6-12 months

a couple of weeks ago it did it again. This time i was sitting in car waiting, and i took it out and blew into it with my mouth and it worked again after that. and now its doing it again. so that lasted around 14 days :-D good to know if your on vacation and it happens and you dont have electronic cleaning with you :-P

the guide is here in danish, but i remember that there was one in here who then translated it to english

The one I've seen previously was that Danish link, put through Google Translate:

If you've cleaned it before, did you use anything like IPA to clean the contacts?
