After sealing the door leak..

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my local garage sealed all my doors for me last week, I used the sealant made by 'shell' which can be used on damp surfaces, I forget exactly what it's called. Anyway.. A week on & my carpets appear drier, however there is still condensation on the windscreen & water if you pull the rubber seal back/open where it's attached to the bottom sill of the car (rear doors only). No water visible on the sills themselves, just sneakily inside the rubber seal. We've not had much rain since I had it done, so just wondering if you guys noticed this same water after you'd done yours or should I be expecting bone dry straight away? Bit worried it might not have worked :S :S I didn't do any drying out afterwards so I'm hoping it's just left over from previous leak. im going to vax the seats at weekend & hopefully dry it all out completely. Thanks for any replies

If the water you are seeing is between the bottom of the door frame seal and the sill it's quite normal. The doors have drain holes that are above the sill, and any escaping water sloshes sideways when cornering. The rubber seal then holds it there for some time. Any water running OVER the frame seal and into the car, points to leaky door carriers, or sometimes a faulty frame seal.

Ah brilliant, sounds quite positive then, I think that's what I have. I'll have a look and see if I can check that all the drainage holes are also free flowing whilst I'm giving it a vax. Thanks for your help
