Your ideas for South-East meets in 2005

Featured Replies

Now there are 3 regular meets that Briskoda members turn up to. These are:

ACE cafe - last tuesday of every month (Feb 22nd)

This is held by Elite1K at the ACE cafe on the North Circular road near Gallows corner.

Watford - every 2 weeks (9th Feb is next one)

This is held with SEAT Enthusiasts at the Top golf centre in Watford. The next one will be playing on the driving range, then 2 weeks after we meet there to then go into Watford for a social meet.

You don't need to be any good at golf as all we do is have a laugh.

With these 2 only 2 Skodas ever seem to turn up to and it would be good to see some more attend. These have been posted up but no interest has been shown at all and that is sad.

Maidstone - Last Friday of every month (feb 25th)

This is a Briskoda meet with the odd intruder, whom we let off as they are good company. It would be nice to move this around every so often, but the last time this was attempted, there again was no interest.

There is also an irregular meet near Basinstoke.

So, I am opening it up to the members in the South-East to inspire me for new meet ideas, they can be big, they can be small, but it would be great if they were different.

To get the ball rolling.....

Another treasure hunt, but a different area this time.

A Kent/Calais/Belgium drive out.

Chessington/Thorpe Park

A Circle line pub crawl

A cryptic monopoly board treasure hunt, using either your cars or public transport.

A day at the Beauliau motor museum.

Something on the Isle of Wight

So your ideas please....

In all honesty, I'd find Watford, ACE or Maidstone a bit far to drive in the evening. SWMBO's early mornings tend to take it out of me these days ;)

We could try Duxford again. It's probably quite good when it's not chucking it down with rain for the entire day...

Or maybe a mini-meet at the discovery centre in one of the Notleys - seems quite a few of us are near the A120. (discovery centre is just an example - only place I know of round there!). Nice lack of cameras round those parts ;)

Maybe when it gets warmer a BBQ on a beach somewhere?

I know not everyone lives within a resonable distance for these meets, it was more about those that can make them easily, but cannot be bothered to turn up because Eastenders is on the TV.

Good ideas though Steve, keep them coming everyone....

"easiest" meet I've been to was a cliosport do in the local tesco's carpark - we skipped the pub lunch option though ;)

Another idea (for those with deep pockets) is the GTI international show outside Ipswich, if they do it there again this year. Either nosing round or showing...

Sound good to me apart from the Circle Line pub crawl, being a real lightweight lol.

One the same thread as this and in connection to the PM you sent me Jeff we could try and organise a trip out the the coast, not Southend before you all get scared was thinking more along the lines of a trip to Aldeburgh, its quite a way but its a lovely little coastal village with a fantastic chippy!!!

otherwise i like the idea of a trip into France/Belgium get some cheap plonk and/or go to some of the D-Day beaches.

or now this would have to be done over a weekend but as already said on a thread somewhere else that Skoda are doing something at the Geneva Motorshow, how about we put the feelers out for a run down there?

have just thought of another place that i would love to go to,so here goes,

well we all watch TopGear don't we?

well you know the Beach that they sometimes do testing on i really want to drive on it aswell.

its in Wales so quite a trip but could be fun!!!

i know that some of these trips are probably getting a little bit more costly but all ideas are good ideas!!!!

Closed off, IIRC, with concrete blocks that not even my 4x4 could get over ;)

Jeff: I have vague memories of pitching up at a meet somewhere near Waltham Abbey? Would visiting that location again attract anyone?

aaaahhh Waltham Abbey, my favourite meet of all. 5 mins from my house :D

It may be worth a go, but I'm thhinking of more vaired things than the usual type of meet among the whole South east area of briskoda which is these counties:

Bedfordshire

Berkshire

Buckinghamshire

Essex

East Sussex

Hampshire

Hertfordshire

Greater London

Kent

Oxfordshire

Surrey

West Sussex

Another Cone Dodgers Handling day in Andover...very good fun and excellent VFM.

Track day at Thruxton.

Or how about a drive down a coastal route...Cornwall....not sure how much could be done in a day....pub lunch.

Adrian - are any of those places close to the south-east? ;)

Steve, the south east section of the forum is

Bedfordshire

Berkshire

Buckinghamshire

Essex

East Sussex

Hampshire

Hertfordshire

Greater London

Kent

Oxfordshire

Surrey

West Sussex

So the conedogers place near Andover does qualify. I think it would be better placed as a national event rather than a SE one personally.

True - Hampshire, isn't it? Just don't usually think of that as being south-east... But then again I am kinda in the north-east of the region :)

  • Author

Neither do I, but I think of myself as East London over SW essex

I direct you to my learned colleagues reply. ;)

Steve,

know what you mean as well but...... :ne_nau:

ok ok!

*goes back and deletes original post* :)

If its Essex area then could stretch to a poss. meet (given that I'm out of 'area', but not by much....)

:friday: come to the isle of wight, make a weekend of it!

Like the idea of a Calais / Belgium - well i am only 5 mins from port & 15 mins from choo choo :):):)

BTW Check out the Maidstone meet for 25th- Henrys Table Leybourne this time

Steve

I'd like to come along to a meet one day.

I live next to Gatwick Airport (Crawley to be precise) and feel that most of the places suggested are poss too far away. How about for the regular meet, we have a thread where everyone puts up which county they are in then we could make an educated guess at how many will turn up? If most people are in Essex then fair enough, Essex it is.

Essex is ok with me as I go to Southend often for an xrtwo.com meet.
