Spare fuses

Featured Replies

I think it may be a good idea to carry a few spare fuses in my SM. Looking on the internet, some blade fuses are described as 'mini fuses': are they what I want, or are they something different?

Sorry to be so ignorant!

Pull out a fuse. If the blade ends are square the fuses are standard, if pointed they will be mini

Thanks. I reckon they're standard, then. Anyone confirm before I waste any money on eBay?!

You can replace fuses without voiding your warranty Ray.

You don't call out a 'Part P' certified electrician if you need to change a lightbulb do you?? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I guess it would also be 'normal' to top up your radiator or oil from time to time.

If my new car was blowing fuses, being the knob head that I am, I would be wondering why the fuse blew...... If my new car was blowing out coolant then I would be asking myself the question, why is the system was losing coolant. The last time I put coolant in the radiator was in morris traveler. I do like to keep an eye on my expanstion tank...

Fuses can blow very easily. When I had a Ford Escort some years ago, if ever a light bulb blew, the associated fuse went too, as can sometimes happen on a domestic lighting circuit. it all depends on relative sensibilities (that sounds like a good title for a novel about an 'interesting' family).

Yes .. and it was one of the much-mailgned diesels. Although, to be fair, it was a lease car in which I was doing a weekly commute from North Yorkshire to North Devon; I notched up 90,000 miles in three years and all I suffered was one puncture and a couple of blown light bulbs (and fuses!).

I have a big box of standard fuses. Just let me know which ones you want and your details and I`ll send them to you FOC. (Happy memories of good holidays down your way)
