front suspenion bushes

Featured Replies

Just had front suspension bushes changed for m.o.t.

inspector told me they had not been put in right, they need rotating?

Mechanic told me they will only go in one way.

Who is telling me the truth.and how can I tell if they are fitted wrong when I havn't much idea what i'm looking for?

If they are wrong, can they be removed and re fitted or do I need more new bushes

theres a mark in the rubber bit on the bush that lines up with the mark on the metal mount under the car. they do only go in one way (front to back) but they can be misaligned so need rotating. they didnt line up when i did them on the 16v the first time we attempted it. not sure about reusing them as when i did mine we destroyed them getting them out. hope this helps

Thanks for your reply. great help. but do you know how to tell if they have been put in without lining up the marks.

and what are the consequences if they have been put in wrong?

I know it must be safe, because it still got through its m.o.t.

Correctly aligned bush, car on it's wheels, note angle of hexagon center in relation to the console.

Consequences of wrongly aligned bush, severe twist on bush under no load suspension, resulting in early bush failure.
