New VRS Estate Cr

Featured Replies

I am the new boy so be nice :)

At last my new car arrived, on the 1st of March!

I have come from an Audi A6 and so fair I am very pleased with the Skoda - goes well. I can see why you guys love your cars.

Just a couple of questions, do you really need to run a new car in? I did not bother in the Audi, went on to do 206000 miles still going strong.

Do Skoda fit black box type things that record driving styles?

Got to admit I didn't really bother running mine in. Didn't thrash it, just drove it fairly normally for the first 2K and kept it below 4K rpm.

Even though mine isn´t the VRS I still took it easy for the first 1000miles, then started normal driving.

I only noticed the engine more freely after 6000miles

Took my new VRS away from the garage, warmed it up then redlined it in every gear for about 20 miles to bed the rings in.

Now performs very well and has not used a drop of oil in 16000 miles

Have a look at this site

Running in

Driven mine hard from day one as well. Drives as sweet as a nut and uses no oil. Had it Revo'd at 800 miles too.

206,000 miles in your A6, are you a taxi driver or is it just a good few years old!?

No need to run in modern engines, just don't thrash / red line it until you done a few thousand miles, which looking at your previous car will only be a few weeks!

Welcome to Briskoda by the way!

must say....i spanked its arse from day one............................

the dsg standing start is good as well......launch control

just trying to get a few days of work to sort out to take dpf off and a shark remap

Respect PowerMalc, I take it you lost your license shortly afterwards.......redline in 6th must be nudging 150 mph.........

redline in 6th should be better than 150!

Ha, ha emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

What I meant was to accelerate to redline upto about 70ish, slow down and then repeat using different gears

Not managed to get 150mph out of my diesel VRS yetemoticon-0145-shake.gif

Used the same technique on my previous new car, a Focus ST. Never had any problems with that car either and no oil ever used in 50000 miles. But I did manage 150mph on a trip to the Nurburgringemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0100-smile.gif

redline in 6th should be better than 150!

Did not notice the rev counter position but I did hit 235 Kph on a bit of a downhill on a motorway once emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Thats good because I have not! I have not been thrashing it to much, just every now and again.

Do Skoda have a black box recorder? I lknow Merc do so they can despute warrenty claims etc.

My Audi was only 4 years old when I get shot of it, I do alot of miles up and down the country. The Skoda has now done 1622 miles in one week!

Wouldn't have thought so - think it is all Urban legend to be honest. Things like your warranty is invalid if you use launch control more than 3 times....Where does it say this in the book? Why put systems like this on? Why build are car with protection and limiters if you can't take it there?
