Gurgling or Swishing

Featured Replies

I just did a full head set gasket change with a newly skimmed head, all running well but there is a swishing or gurgling sound coming from not far under the driver side dash, the engine was changed 3 months ago and this sound started then, i have no idea what it is airlock or whatever but its a bit unnerving and annoying, fluctuates with revs, any help as to what it is and how it can be resolved

Sounds like an airlock

is there any way other than running the engine with the cap off and squeezing the water pipes to remove an airlock as i have done this and it hasn't really changed

Have you done this with heaters set to hot ?

If the noise is changing according to engine speed then as the pump is driven by the crankshaft via the timing belt then got to be airlock. Also set the cabin heater temp to max hot as most people forget that this is just a valve to allow engine coolant to flow from the engine into the cabin heater matrix to heat the cabin!! Then turn engine on and start squeezing the pipes!! before it gets hot (serious risk of burns :-)!! It might not make a difference but set the cabin air speed fan to 1 just to make sure that the heating is "on".
