sony Sony MEX-BT3800U

Featured Replies

I had a older spec one and it was brilliant could get it loud and with what id consider good base with no distortion on standard speakers. Better sound than the one I bought to replace it haha. I would defiantly say its a good buy.

I have one. Cracking piece of kit.......

Downside is my wife is on the phone 24/7 in the car now. Seriously I recommend you buy one....

Improves standard sound a fair bit and the equalizer has a fair number of different presents and settings.

Yep i have one too, took me ages to find one that did everything (bluetooth, iphone compatible, usb charging etc etc)

Buy it you won't regret it

Bought one a couple of weeks ago - no complaints as yet. Seems to be very good and the BT music streaming is cool...

I've had its preprocessor (the MEX BT2500) and it's an awesome bit of kit so for what it's worth you've got my recommendation. I've been using it for the last 5 years its been in my Jeep, Polo and now just put it in the Fabia (although i've got some trouble with it resetting every time i turn the key...just teething problems though).

Best feature is being able to answer the phone with just a press of the big button, automatically fades your music out and then in again when your done. The Aux In is handy too for when you've forgotten to switch on the BT on your iPhone.

It also used to work with my Sony Ericcsson K810i back in the day.

Note: When I installed iOS 4.0 on the iPhone there was an issue detecting the BT2500 but it got fixed in v4.1 a later update.

edit; funny just noticed your username, i've just used my stereo for the first time in the Fabia and Deadmau5 4x4=12 was the chosen album.

I've got the Sony MEX-BT3900, which is almost the same barring a few little bits and it sounds great coming through the standard speakers, unless you want a lot of base, then you may be let down.

Great bit of kit, got 1 a few weeks back from Halfords for £80....now back @ £170 tho' limited stock. Sound is so much better than the old Skoda unit.

Its a cracking bit of kit, highly recommended, pairs up with my phone straight away for handsfree phone calls. Amazon had it on sale at a cracking price.

...just put it in the Fabia (although i've got some trouble with it resetting every time i turn the key...just teething problems though).

Swap the yellow/red wires over, they should have bullet connectors on the HU loom or pay £2.50 for a Fabia ISO adapter (it just swaps the switched and perm live over at the plug which you could also do).

What's the differences between the BT3800U and the BT3900U? I'm looking for a new headunit at the moment, is this model still a good buy or would anybody recommend something different?

I have this one or a predecessor and it's amazing!!!! Definately worth the money.

You won't be disappointed.
