New vRS

Featured Replies

Got the vRS on Saturday from Palmers in Watford - Race blue hatch, CR, manual, xenons, rear PDC, auto lights etc, maxidot and MDI - this was a cancelled order from last year.

First impressions - general build quality not as good as previously owned Skodas.

Positive - decent mpg on new engine (ODO showed average of 52 mpg).

Negative - broken rear washer jet nozzles, faulty fuel cap cover (won't shut).

Palmers have been a nightmare: -

Car was obviously just wheeled out of their showroom that morning having undergone the PDI back in July last year when it arrived. It had obviously been used for a couple of test drives and left in a grubby condition.

More worrying was the un-nerving vibration on the front end and through the seat on the 150 miles return leg. I checked the tyre pressures and discovered they were all dangerously low.

They failed to tell me it had been used for test drives before I travelled to their showroom. The sales man explained that the car would have a PDI between my order and delivery.

Having arrived close to lunchtime on a Saturday all their little helpers had gone home and it was a case of take the car or travel another return journey on another day once they'd cleaned it etc.

The whole experience of buying a new car had the shine taken off it, bit like the car really. Whinge over.

They are idiots there. Complete idiots.

don't tolerate a poor dealer - vote with your feet

Any pictures matey

I got my new vRS from Palmers in Watford too - they were very responsive to the couple of niggles which were sorted under warranty. The only real criticism I have of them is that their courtesy cars almost never have enough fuel in them! Other than that they've been good as gold (so far!).

The main service guy is Paul, so make sure you deal with him direct.

Can you say a little more about why you found them inadequate?

I'm not surprised at all Chubbs. I had a bad experience of Palmers Watford also. They are sharks.

I showed my interest in a VRS before christmas. They didn't have one at Watford but said they would find me one from another main dealer within my budget. The next day i got a phone call saying they had found one for me. I went over to them to discuss the details. I was assured and re-assured that the car would be in excellent condition and that a main dealer would not sell a car that wasn't up to standard. It took me ages to decide but eventually i signed and put down a £500 deposit

Anyway, three weeks later they called me to say the car was at the garage so i went to have a look at it. I got within 10 yards of it and knew i didn't want it. It was very tatty. All the wheels were damaged, the paintwork was in poor condition, there were scratches all over the interior, moss around the windows etc, etc. They told me that i had committed to buy the car and i said no way. It has been mis sold as the assurances that i was given were not met. To cut a long story short i eventually got my money back. Needless to say the car is still on the forecourt 4 months later and for £700 less than i was going to buy it for the cheeky buggers!

Luckily i found another VRS for the same price, in great condition, that was NOT from a main dealer. It is everything that i thought the one from Palmers would be so i'm happy but the whole thing left a sour taste in my mouth.

A valuable lesson was learned......DO NOT buy a car that you haven't seen and DO NOT trust what the salesman says, even if they are from a main dealer.

I know your feelings

Border Skoda sold me what is a fecking squib i kid you not.

within 12hrs i had been stopped by the Traffic Police for my lights being "unusually bright" only to discover the new xenons they replaced hadnt been aligned. the wipers were gubbed and needed replaced, drivers seat had collapsed at the bolsters, the headlights started filling with water, needs a software update, service light randomly comes on?!.

Its been back now at the dealership for two weeks waiting on a new seat.

In my opinion it wasnt PDI'd properly and they know it they tried to scrimp on things to get it out the door quickly but sadly chose the wrong person to do that with i must be thee pickiest person there is lol.

Hmm, bought my last car from them (Palmers) and had no trouble at all. Just bought another one. I hope I wasn't just lucky last time!

Had my new vrs from Palmers mid January, didn't particularly like the insistance of the money for the car being paid out 2 days before collection, but I am happy with the car and the deal was good.I did give the car a good clean and polish when I got it home and I was quite amazed at the filth that came off it.Palmers have recently sent a text and a letter insisting the car needs a interim service, which I realise is b****cks.

The car has now developed a lumpy idle on a cold start. Any ideas?

Palmers still owe me money - one week on - just another sign of poor customer focus and incompetence.

Really suprises me to read this, I picked my vRS up from Palmers in January and could not fault the service they gave me from ordering the car to taking delivery. Hope you get it all sorted asap.
