Erratic/sticking throttle

Featured Replies

I spoke to skoda customer services today as my throttle pedal has been sticking for a couple of months now. I was hoping there would have been a recall as it seem like quite a common problem, but after a check on skoda's computer theres no recall and no reported problems.

I was informed that unless skoda customers contact them regarding the issue they cant do a recall on the sticking pedal, and im to take it to a skoda dealer.

Im not paying a main dealer to do it so im going to fit one myself.

I just thought id let my fellow briskodians know. :)

Re-calls in the UK are very rare as VOSA are simply not that interested. The fault you experienced is indeed common, but due to the system having a throttle kill switch on the brake pedal, not a safety issue. Best example of different recall attitudes, would be the DSG gearbox fiasco on VAG cars. 15,000 cars recalled in the USA, squat here. VAG DSG cars were off the road for weeks, as VAG couldn't even supply the mechatronic units in a timely fashion.

I had my throttle pedal replaced last January as it was sticking just above idle when I'd come to a stop. It was the under warranty. Just in the last week the same problem has re-occurred

Is it an easy thing is replace?

Drivers side parcel shelf has to come out, then three nuts and pedal can be lifted up, and sensor unplugged. Fit new sensor, refit parcel shelf, done.

Thanks for that.
