if its fine then why has it got this welded to it obviously its must not be for road use then? :S its the right exhaust for the car and the only one milltek supply for the fabia has anyone elses got this?

Euan

Its an arse covering exercise for them

matt

I've got a full Milltek system on my car. Think the part numbers were SK03 SK04 SK05. Put a pic up and I'll we'll see if its the correct one

Tricky one on several counts. Obviously not TUV approved for road use. Nice get out of jail card for insurance, even if they allow it as a declared modification. Thorough roadside inspection by traffic cops, might break out the sound meter, or simply issue a ticket under construction and use, stating illegal exhaust for road use. Will fail MOT in 2012 in any case.

May be loud. Police don't like loud. Cannot blame miltek then for you driving it around quiet streets burbling about.

It'll be fine. :)

how will it fail in 2012 mate?

Loads of MOT changes on the books. Pages of the stuff covering mods and emissions. At present, diesels only have a smoke density check, things like NoX isn't covered, same goes for open CAT system, doesn't have to be there at present. Now some of the changes are rumor mill stuff, but the one that seems to be already in the pipeline, covers missing EGR valves, missing CAT.

Basically, if the CAT is missing, they can fail the car just like they would a petrol engine. No CAT means the car will be putting out higher Co2 than the quoted specs. No EGR will mean high NoX so they don't even have to measure the gases.

I've got a Milltek decat and it has that written on it too. Never paid any attention to it!

Grind it off if it fails mot's

Haha! It was probably on my downpipe too. Didn't even look at it. Just knew I was going decat, which isn't exactly leagal. It isn't too loud, just a nice deep tone off it. So you shouldn't get any trouble with the police. I wouldn't worry too much. Worst that could happen is you may have to put in the original cat for MOT's further down the line, but thats only once a year!

Mods for the MOT is a load of BS

Surely the petrols have emissions test and a D puts out less, so with a De-cat on there i would make the argument of test my car for emissions then..... when they refuse i would just ask for the part of the MOT which states 'if a CAT has been fitted from factory then it must remain fitted'

unless you can supply this?

which means a lot of MOT centers should not have there license as 70% of cars here are De-cat

Hey don't shoot the messenger. The legislation is coming in from Brussels, so anything is possible. What's this 70% de-cat on here thing? Are we talking Fabia Forum, or all Skoda models?

MOT centers are currently operating within the VOSA parameters for the test. It would be very simple for VOSA to enforce the policy of "Modified and not in accordance with manufactures specification." No tail pipe sniffer test needed. Missing CAT instant fail (as it is for petrols.)

Currently, diesel users pay road tax based on emissions if car was built after a certain year. So according to your 70% figure, the vast majority of Skoda owners are blatantly committing fraud, don't care about the environment, just as long as their car is cool?

Personally, I hope this legislation does come into force, as SOME modified cars are downright dangerous.

They could go a lot further, and probably will.

<Mods for the MOT is a load of BS> Really, so I can submit a car for MOT with wheels protruding beyond the wheel arch then, by sticking on mental wheels and it will pass? You really need to temper knee jerk answers with a modicum of decency and common sense.

Sorry i will rephrase this, the new ideas for modiforcations for the MOT 'remaps etc' is a load of BS.

i have crossed this with a VOSA inspector and he has confirmed this is one of the 'Ideas' that will not stick.

Apologies if i seemed to have a go, i just get a little tired of the goverments 'ideas' in road laws being passed around as if they are already in action.

Like a lot of the sales guys i work with, selling things before they are finnished.

Apologies for my abruptness
