Possibly a really strange question

Featured Replies

This may sound weird, but...

I have a 55' Fabia VRs, everything works fine and I have no problems, but I have noticed that if I have the heater on full [all settings do work] and put the car in reverse the heater blower seems to speed up quite a bit, then stays on this faster speed till I change the setting???

Anyone else had this?

Thanks

Yes, it's normal, the heater goes into recirc mode to prevent exhaust fumes entering the car.

It's completely normal. It's a VW thing I think. The vents automatically go into recirc when in reverse to stop your own exhaust fumes being blown in.

You'll also find that if you have the front wipers on (even intermittent) ,

the rear wiper comes on by itself when you engage reverse.

It's a good reason to make sure the rear wiper isn't stuck to the screen in icy conditions

when you back off the drive as you'll often have front wipers on too..

( Mother in law did this in our SDI ) And yes I know she must have been reversing out

nearly blind... What can I say... She has since learned her lesson :D
