Handbrake sorted, foot brake now crap

Featured Replies

Hi, I had a local VAG specialist garage adjust my handbrake as it was only coming on when you pull it to its maximum level. It wasnt a stretched cable, it was all done on the adjusters which had also apparently seized up but are now free. Anyway, the handbrake is now very sharp, 3 clicks on ratchet will hold the car. But now when I press my brake pedal its no where near as good as it was prior to the trip to the garage. There is allot more travel before the brakes activate fully than before. And just feels wrong.

Is it possible that the foot brake is now only operating the front/rear brakes individually and not both front and rear simultaneously?

Or has the Brake fluid mostly gone to the rear brake master cylinder and the front brakes having got enough fluid?

Or could air of got into the system?

Im really annoyed as my MOT is tomorrow, which is why I had the idea to get the handbrake sorted in the first place. but now my main brakes arent any good.

Cheers.

Does the foot brake feel any better with the handbrake on?

sorry dude for not replying. I realised I had gone over my broadband usage.

Anyway when you have handbrake on it doesnt make any difference. But if you pump the brakes the pedal goes abit harder momentarily but soon goes soft again. The garage that did it has agreed to bleed the sytem for me anyway s thats good. Cheers.
