Hello and good day....Its always a good start to introduce yourself to a new forum so here I am. My names Nial, I`m 36 & on the look out for a Fabia VRS after the demise of my Toyota Corolla due to some out of control young lass last friday :'( It was a great car but I think the insurance folks are going to say "Yes sir...thats buggered" and I`ll never see it again. After a passenger ride in a friends Fabia a year or so ago I must say I was well impressed and it has obviously left a lasting impression as I know find myself hunting for one.

I`ll be having a hunt around the forum for any tips / buyers guides. (I must admit I havnt looked at the forum yet at all, signed up and come straight here to introduce myself)

Currently living in Bradford, but soon to move to Harrogate....with a house that has a garage....it will be like luxury as I`m used to fixing cars by the roadside with cars whizzing past my head and getting rained upon....oh I cant wait

I look forward to many years of happy Skoda ownership and making use of this forum........just need to find one now before they take the hire car off me B)

Welcome

Are there any Rally Fans on here? I`m sure there will be.....I`m a huge one

Am looking to put some different wheels onto the Fabia when I buy it, had a look on the "Alloy Wheels" thread and noticed a couple of rally type wheels on Fabias.....some 5 spokes and some OZ roulette type wheels, any one have any pictures of a Fabia with either Compomotive MOs (5 or 6 spoke) or more OZ roulette type wheels?

As it happens the Fabia has the same wheel offset/PCD as the weekend toy so I can swap wheels about when I fancy a change...Bonus B)

After spending an evening reading all the stickies and guides the forum is very helpful...some people dont half put in some hard work to make life a little easier for the rest of us. Dont think I`ll have time this weekend to go car hunting, but I`m going to take a day off work next week to see if I can find one so fingers crossed I`ll be a proud owner soon

Thanks for the welcome

Well went to look at one this afternoon in Bradford at a dealers.....dont know what it was, but do you know when you feel there isnt something quite right about the car...no history what so ever, the wear on the discs and the interior didnt to me tally with the claimed mileage and there was a locking wheel nut adaptpr in the glove box...but no locking wheel nuts on any of the wheels :S anf there were a couple of small but irritating deep scratches on the bodywork, a bit over priced too...and the dealer wasent willing to shift on the price...even for cold hard cash.

The search continues

Well I finally got around to buying one....I`m now the proud owner of a red 05 VRS, 63000 miles on the clock....I`ll take ownership of it on friday.

Was very impressed with the test drive, comfortable, nippy and generally a nice place to be...cant wait to get my mits on her.

Cheers.

I think it will stay standard for the time being but eventually I`ll get around to maybe replacing the suspension and wheels, will see how it goes. The first port of call will be a dam good polish and to try to get the seats back to their original colour.....any suggestions as to which product I can use to clean the seats with?

Well a bit of a story and interesting start to Skoda ownership......went to pick up the red Fabia from the garage yesterday, turns out the during the checks they found that alot of wires and pipes had melted (quite what was never revealed) but the outcome was that they deemed the car unrepairable and gave me my deposit back....bugger, have to search for another one and quick sharpish as I need it to get to work on monday. Came across a yellow Fabia VRS near Bolton......and what a find, slightly higher miles (3000 more) and £100 more expensive, but the thing is like brand new, who ever owned it before me has seriously looked after it, absolutely mint.

My only comment (apart from good ones) is that it has some strange handling characteristics, its been the same in all the Fabias I have test driven so I dont think its a problem with the car, but under weight transfer conditions it dosnt half wallow about a bit, lift of oversteer on a corner is more like lift off "head in all directions at the same time" steer. Some suspension work is definitely in order starting with getting the geometry checked and set up as per the manufacturers recommendations nd seeing how it goes from there.....oh and some new tyres

Apart from that I`m well pleased.....why didnt I buy one earlier?
