Central Locking installation

Featured Replies

Folks,

Along with a friend of mine, I've managed to install the central locking kit for the missus Skoda Fabia 2 today.

It all went swimmingly until it came to finding somewhere for the red power cable to go..........

Online guides suggests we need to look for some thick red cables and tag the loop from the red power cable on with the other ones already there. The only thick red cables we can find are right up above the steering wheel and look impossible to get to - let alone attaching another cable.

Has anyone got any pics or any more details as to where this cable goes?

Everything else is done so can't believe we've fallen at the last hurdle.

Many thanks in advance

Jon

I wouldn't just grab any old thick red cable... You want to make sure whatever you're wiring in is correctly fused. If this is a proper Skoda kit I would expect it to terminate at the fusebox.

I would also guess you want a switched live rather than permanent live feed, so you really want a voltmeter and/or wiring diagram.

Is it the original central locking, BKA 700 003?

Have you tried reading the BKA700003 installation ?

I saw some problem with that, although Im attempting a Rclick installation instead

Basically, in the fuse they want you to use, 56 I think, it has no 12v permanent power rail, thats what you need.

Otherwise what you end up doing, is pull it to the fuse rail, with a fuse, but of course it doesn;t give you any power from there ! ******s never explained that did they

I succummbed to using the 12v accessory socket into a splice for mine. Its the same fuse 15a, and whats the worst that can happen, your ligher doesnt't work !

Still haven't got the Rclick working properly though :o( cant seem to get the blue/yellow to work and get the kit to unlock the doors...although its relays are clicking.

I've also discovered its a positive boot release ( I think ) as the button release wire reads 12v until someone clicks the button

If you are missing the BKA 700 003 guide then let me know, and I will send it you...

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all your responses. The kit I am putting on is BFC 400 101

Have tried following the instructions but the translation isn't too clear.

We've cabled it without any problem into the fuse box but just can't find where the red power lead attaches.

Because of this, we haven't got as far as actually testing if it works........

Ummmm.......and I've actually just realised something a little more embarrasing.......

The missus has a Fabia 1 - not a Fabia 2......

Sorry folks!!!!!!!! I'm going to quietly slope off and post my question in the right place!!! :o(

I would say...otherwise youd be brave to fit the kit to the wrong model lol

Who knows maybe it would work, or maybe not
