PD100 Fabia vs Polo vs Ibiza? Modding

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I own a 2001 Fabia PD100 Elegance (Dark MET Blue), I like the car a lot. But it needs a lot of things changing.

1. Fabia vRS Front/Rear Bumpers. Rear Window Tints

2. 16" Bora TDI SPORT 5 spoke wheels- Tyres 45mm profile.

3. Remap/ PD160 intake (Custom Made probably (HOSES))

4. PD130 Turbo/Injectors (PD150 hard to get hold of!)

(Any advice on where to get these mods done from (University life = Low Budget :D)

Now I have driven a 2003 PD100 Polo Sport, and have noticed it has a nicer pull and is actually quicker!!! :(

Now the Ibiza/Fabia/Polo have the same engines and Wisebuyer shows that both the Ibiza and Polo are a second!!! quicker than the fabia to 60mph????

I would have thought mine is on the same level, but apparently mine does 0-60 in 11.5.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading my story :D

For a remap I would go to Shark, the bumpers could possibly be picked up from either eBay or a scrap yard.

As for the 11.5secs 0-60, I have a PD100 and I would believe it's quicker than what the book figures state.

Just buy a cheap vrs

I know thats what I thought, I've timed 0-60 on a private road and it did do it in 11.5, but I did have a crap start.

Still learning the tdi ins and outs. :D

It's got decent pull stays up with A3 Tdi's, not exactly emabarrased.

I just want to get a map to about 140bhp.

But my cousin has a set of 130 injectors and I could pursuade him to give me a good price and then I only need a turbo (£150max)

0-60 will be round high 8's low 9's?

Thing is I paid 900 pound for it :D

Mine with a digital tuning box is running 123bhp and 215lb/ft and I believe the 0-60 is around 10-10.5second mark

You've got to consider that for the same power engines, the polo and the ibiza are lighter cars - which accounts for the 0-60 times.

Have you got a link for that digital tuning box please?

Thanks

The company that made mine (Dragon Digital) are now bust, but personally I would choose a remap (if I could afford it)

0-60's in a diesel are a waste of time, we spin away too much of the power because of the torque!

To prove a point, i'd pulled up at some lights and a rude boy corsa went blasting off, I thought, meh, can't be asred but soon caught him mid range :)

Now, same set of lights and i'd come up rolling in 2nd gear, lights went green, bye bye everybody

No they arent. Just learn to launch better ;)

Lol how are diesels poo of the line. If a diesel dies 0-60 in 8.6 seconds and a petrol does it in 8.6secs, which is better of the line...

I think he means, because some people cant launch for toffee, due to high peak torque at low end, it spins up and you just sit there. Thats why you launch at 5,000rpm in 2nd. Torque problem solved :D

Ok whats the best way to get off the line? I always try to change to second as quick as possible. But I always feel that changing so quickly will lose the momentum.

Lol some geezer in a 2006 Mercedes Coupe got embarrased by my 2001 Fabia, I remember my wheels spinning a lot! But I still took him in second, up until 70 then my exit came up :D.

I don't condone racing, but I hate when drivers think they own the roads, so my natural response is to put my foot down! :p

I can't wait for my remap this SUMMER, and Turbo/injectors hopefully! (ps. Will it smoke a lot if I change the injectors/Turbo?)

Also how much am I looking for a new clutch? (My dad will fit it, so saves labour costs), Thats if it DIES! Touch wood it doesn't.

Is that what I need if my clutch dies, or do I need the flywheel as well?

Pd100's are 5 speed ain't they? If so you could use the g60 clutch I think it is :-/ depends what power your wanting to take it too. As for smoke levels that will depend how the mapping is done tbh, but there's no reason for masses of smoke piling out

Yes 5 speed, I'll look around for that clutch

Mk3 Golf 2.9 VR6 clutch and Corrado G60 single-mass flywheel is apparently the best option for big-ish levels of power...I'll hopefully let you know soon enough :D
