I hate snow foam

Featured Replies

I hate snow foam. It's useless. I've tried:

  • Neat snowfoam
  • Snow foam diluted (warm water, cold water), various amounts
  • Snowfoam + shampoo, diluted
  • Snowfoam + Shampoo + APC, diluted

None of it works better than using the pressure washer to rinse the car. The only one that worked at all was the APC in relatively strong dilution to strip wax off, but that left the car squeaky to draw a wash mitt over even with ultra slippery Megs Gold Class shampoo. To make things worse it somehow appears cleaner until either a) it dries or b ) you drag a cloth over it to check.

I suspected it was crap after 6 months of trying hard on a blue car, now i've a white car i can see it's as much use as a chocolate mouse in a hot oven.

Bah. For the bin  Feel better now i've got that off my chest! :giggle:

I love mine. If you're throwing it away I'll pay the postage and have it off you!

Lol! I've never used it and i dont intend to. As you say i dont think you can beat a pressure washer when used correctly.

i love using my snowfoam, my car doesnt get treated to a wash much so the snowfoam gets most of the thick dirt from the car then a quick handwash and car always spotless =] took me few attempts to get the mix and workin properly but works a treat now.

 for this one.

I completely agree Craig, if you pressure rinse thoroughly before going over the car with the washmitt there is absolutely no need for snow foam imo  ..especially if the car is well prepped & has had some decent protection applied.

I think that's part of my problem, over on DW it's like a classroom full of rowdy school children :giggle: (i count myself among them btw!) and the recommendations can be just giddy excitement, "me too!", kind of thing.

Having said that there's a few folks i do watch out for their recommendations. The ones i've found with the best recommendations are also the ones that end up posting lots of pictures backing up what they say.

Baker21 on here's good, i bought autosol after watching a few of his threads with before and afters of that and it turned out to be ace on my old BM, although reading his threads he was also the one that convinced me on my new car i don't really need much more than APC for keeping the back box clean.

Kelly / KDS Deltic's another one that seems pretty decent with his recommendations, it was leather care i picked up from him.

Bah, i'm 27 this year. I'm just a grumpy old man now :giggle:

LOL ... very true lol ... i tend to watch what a lot of the pro's on there use and the threads they post .. otherwise u'd be buying everything lol

I think the key thing on DW is to try products for yourself, I bought a lot from the classifieds when I started out getting keen on the Detailing lark and since then have shifted a lot on through there as well, it's a good 'swap' section and they also have an offical 'swap' section now..........

Also make use of some of the traders selling samples of the products, why spend £20 on something when you can get a sample for pence and if you like it then you buy the full thing..........

There are some core products that you will always come back to time and time again, this is the case for many of the Pro's and Hobbisist's on DW......... B)
