3.5 year old 2007 2.0 TDi Elegance estate. NOT ESP

Used it Thursday no problems at all. Next day I go to take it out and and it lit up the Christmas lights and beeped. I checked with genuine Vag-Com and found that there was no communication with ABS controller. The result is, as one would expect, it throws up errors on other controllers.

The ABS unit is a TEVES MK70. - non ESP controller.

I drove it round the block a few times after clearing the codes to get a better idea on what's happening. I get some very odd effects which makes me wonder if there is more to this than just the ABS controller. I switch on the ignition and get "Emissions Workshop" on the Maxidot. The steering appears to have lost assistance.

Somehow on Saturday I was able to clear the codes and then everything was fine. I drove an 8 mile return trip which included parking thus stopping the engine. It behaved perfectly. Sunday - back to square 1.

This is the log from this morning. I've removed those controllers with no codes.

Not sure if it helps, but chassis type listed on above scan is 1K which is Golf/Jetta?? Octavia II should be 1Z?

It was def scanned as a 1Z. I note that all my previous scans state 1K0. I guess that 1K0 may be a generic term as the Octavia is a 1K variant, i.e. it is a form of the Golf platform.

Put the battery on charge and see if that improves things.

Modern cars are both heavy on batteries and also sensitive to a weakness in the battery.
