I was going to do the door seal repair on my NSR door today, popped the door card off to be met what I assume was Skoda's first attempt at the repair with sealant all over the place, but with lots of gaps in it.

Does anyone have any tips on getting the dam sealant off, I spent ages today picking at it but I still haven't got it all off and I want the door nice and clean before I do the repair myself.

It's probably a polyurethane sealant which is difficult to remove. Scraping is the only method I can think of.

Needle nosed pliers and a load of patience.

Thats why its better to use a non setting compound like they use on caravans eg 'seamseal cv' and not silicon ! as you then have a chance of getting into the door again. cheers - Stuart
