Clutch limits

Featured Replies

Looking at a new advert on the "for sale" section, I noticed a Fabia VRS with 440lb/ft of torque.

It's running a Sachs race engineering Organic clutch.

How much torque can a clutch handle reliably?

Believe the sachs is 400lb/ft and the helix 440lb/ft

With that torque id be more worried about the dmf... Wont last long

Does the Sachs actually run with a DMF or does it need a normal one anyway? Ok, if the torque is correct, and not an optomistic derived value, the Sachs is right on its ragged edge anyway, and I'd like to hope the car has brake and damper upgrades for performance, rather than for stance.

Surely that depends on the clutch??!!

As Jase (and that advert) say upgraded clutchs are good for 400's while the commonly acknowledged "safe" level for the standard clutch is around 300lb/ft

The values i quoted were manufacturer limits

They may do more but the manufacturer will set a safe limit

400 lb/ft is enough for any vrs

I would also start worrying about the gearbox i wrecked one at 60k on a stage 2 vrs
