Featured Replies

Well I accuired the lights cheapish with one being smashed as per pic (light in the background)

Bought a second hand donor light for £20, bargain.

The inner projector needed some repair, hence it looks like a cup cake.

The adjusters work and the beam pattern is good.

Just waiting on my new bulbs D2S from ebay to arrive and I can start puttin the passenger one together B)

Any chance you can get a pic of the height adjuster internal gubbins please? One of mines has popped off!:(

I've got a spare motor

Are they hard to split im contemplating painting my innards but too scared to break it

No not at all. I use a heat gun and I can have it apart in around 3 mins

A mate has just bought a set of these (the ebay ones everyone was watching) so this will make things much easier!

Thanks for posting  Pics when fitted too!

Matt

The xenons just complete the car look ten times better than halogens

Shame the main beam isnt xenon though

The old lupo does have though :) haha

And get some diadems for the indicators ;)

Already have the rainbow effect ones in the headlights on the car. Will swap them over.

I'll prob have them in at the weekend after some tinkering time

Once breaking the seal are they suseptable to condensation

Will look good!

Wouldnt worry too much come mot time either as my headlight washers were removed and blanked off for the fmic and it passed

You could fit the covers to the bumper though always think they look cool

I'll re seal them with a bead of silicone.

Yes I know jase, I'll keep a eye out for some ;)

Are these just a simple plug and play then or is there additional wiring for them ?

I might price some up at the dealer.

don't they have an external ballast?

or maybe its part of the light?

new units are circa £500 a piece new :o

then the xenon bulbs are anywhere from £50-£100

I have no idea, I thought you may of known with having them on your fabia ?

erm... never really took much notice...??

could actually all be internal thinking about it... and i think the plug was the same on my 04 plate non xenon vrs

sure sy will confirm

(you can actually see the ballast in the first pic there... so im not sure)

Based on Polo pricing, you're looking at about £200ish a side per light I think. Then there's the ballasts and bulbs which come to about another £150-200 based on dealer prices. Sure the B&B's could be got cheaper though from HIDs4U etc.

Think they also need extra wiring to convert AC & DC, but could be wrong on that front.

There is some brand new Xenon headlights on ebay with either black inners or standard chrome, listing says the replace genuine part no xxxxx so not sure if they are genuine items but at £300 each I'd imagine they are also doesn't say if they have bulbs or ballasts but I have enquired :)

The wiring is slightly different but still goes to the same place on the plug. I'll get some pics to show you soon

Also the main beam is H7 on the xenons and not H3 as in the standard light, so it's just a different plug

Some wiring pics would be excellent.

Update:

I fitted the bulbs and mounted the projector back in.

Had to modify the wiring:

1.jpg

Had to make a cut out for the wire to the balast pack.

Everything back in:

Thought might as well paint the inner black.

Back together

Comparison with standard light.

Happy with how it went. Will split the other light and fit them at the weekend hopefully along with my headlight washer covers B)

Why did you have to change the wireing? cause i plugged one of mine in and everything worked fine in mine no probs no need to change the wires??

As I transplanted everything out of the smashed up xenon into a now xenon light

So do the xenons have there own loom that plugs into the standard fabia loom then to the ballast ?

Almost like a HID kit ?
