Is new fascia plate required for upgrading Symphony HU?

Featured Replies

Been looking at a Bluetooth head unit for the g/f's Fabia vRS (Kenwood KDC-BT61U...any opinions btw?) and have been told that I'll need the following items as well:

- wiring harness (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=10276)

- aerial adapter (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=9861)

- new fascia plate (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=9643)

I can understand the first two, but if I'm replacing the Symphony with a single DIN alternative, am I really going to need a new fascia plate?

Forget that fascia part. The genuine one which matches the dash perfectly is available from your dealer for £3.

The dealer one simply clicks into place above the unit. The after market ones that go all around the head unit, make it impossible to put the surround supplied with the head unit in place, and also catch on the buttons above, making the headed rear screen button stick.

Also that wiring adapter is wayyy too expensive. You might not even need it if your head unit comes with bullet adapters to swap the permanent and ignition 12v around anyway.

If you do need one, they're available from ebay for about £5
