Isn't it ridiculous...........

Featured Replies

I've decided I'd like to change my car and am interested in the Monte Carlo which has been advertised in the national press and is featured on the Skoda website.

I've contacted four dealers with the intention of having a look at on and a test drive. None of the dealers have one and even worse don't know when they will. This is a car that is available on the VAT offer- which finishes in a couple of weeks.

Two of the dealers sounded very exasperated with the situation and admitted that some prospective buyers are walking away and considering alternative brands.Surely this isn't good for Skoda in the long term.

Any dealers out there know when the Monte Carlo will be in the showroom?

It was/is the same with the Greenline.

You could always try the engine in a different spec/car and then hope for the best with the trim? :p

Yes I've thought of that but I would like to see one "in the flesh" before spending money. Also it has sports suspension unlike mine so I'd like to see how that felt

I'm sure the dealer I got my VRS from said they had one over a month ago.

Went into my local dealer to inquire about vRS and Monte, when I mentioned the Monte he asked me if I knew when it had been made available! They had no info on it at all. My visit to a Newcastle dealer netted me a 2 minute read of a printed spec list/picture and no offer of even a photocopy.

Always frustrating when any dealer treats you with no respect. Hope it doesn't put you off. :(

its a new model and special edition, I dont think the dealers will get one to demo as there will be a limited supply, your only real chance of seeing one in the flesh is to hope that someone else has bought one from the same dealer and wait for it to be delivered to them. The car is very vRS like in appearance, so if you like that then the monte carlo will be just as good. Just drive another car with the same engine to get a feel for what that engine is like pulling the Fabia around.

I dont know how many they are producing in RHD so if you want one you may have to be quick.

Hi,

I don't know how far you live from Stockport, Greater Manchester - but the Lookers Skoda Dealer there have, I believe, a Monte Carlo in the showroom. All I remember is that it was red and covered in flyers for the Monte Carlo. Not sure it had black wheels/trim however.

I initially quite liked the Monte Carlo but the more I think about it the more I think its a bit of a sheep in wolves clothing and a bit OTT.

I believe a Sport variant is on its way, i'd hold out for one of those or just buy an Elegance 1.2 TSi 105/1.6 CR 105 in a decent colour with a bit of spec and Sports Suspension, it wont drive any differently.

I think the GL2 is still extremely rare to find as a demo car - they seem to be just sold.

When I ordered my Greenline Skoda were only taking preproduction orders, I had to drive a similar variant and hope.

As has been said drive a similar variant to get an idea about the engine.
