Hello from the Highlands

Featured Replies

Hello to you all. I've been an infrequent lurker on the site for about a year now. After some very helpful advice from forum members on a recent problem with my old Octy I thought it was about time I did the decent thing, paid for a Freedom membership and introduced myself.

I joined the wonderful world of Skoda owners after a council snowplough reversed into my beloved old '97 Audi A4 (while I was in the car - not pleasant) and wrote it off. I'd been running that car on filtered waste vegetable oil for 5 years previously, had become deeply attached to the old 1.9 TDi engine for its veg. tolerance and was told that the last VAG cars to use the old engine were the pre-05 Skodas. I bought one, converted it and three years later am still going strong. Hence the forum name.

Sadly the old car has developed some unfortunate throttle habits lately (see http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/194666-repeated-throttle-pedal-faults-ecu/page__pid__2315996#entry2315996 for details) - nothing to do with the veg I hasten to add - and I'm beginning to wonder about our future together. This is mostly because my local dealership have been scaring the living daylights out of me with talk of a £1500 plus ECU rieplacement. I never thought I had a mercenary approach to the car before but it seems as if everyone has their price!

Happy Skoda motoring to everyone.

Jeremy
