Coilovers or fixed kits

Featured Replies

Theory....

Say kw fixed lowering suspension kit 35-40mm

Vs.

Kw v1's lowered 35-40mm

What will be the better handling kit?? Are coilovers just a compromise to get low?

I recently changed some ta technick ebay jobbies on my lupo gti for ap fixed suspension kit of dampers and sprinfs and the difference is night and day! Ap's are far superiour.

Please discuss

obviously a pair of matched springs and dampers are going to better then coilovers that have non adjustable shocks, ideally the lower you go you would want to adjust damper to match, although i would expect a set of coilovers lowered a resonable amount to be about on par, but still wont be matched as well

Nice one

I didnt want lows just a nice oem+ height from a reputable company

Obviously kw v3's could compete?

yep had them on my previous octy, but again without mucking about with the settings, out of the box a matched spring and damper setup will be better, just a shame noone does them on the fabia that drops the required amount, circa 40-45mm for the ideal setup yet not too low, plus there be just fit and forget, and not have to worry about the adjuster seizing up lol

Yes fabia only goes around 25mm

Barely noticable

Looks nice on a wee lupo gti however

All depends what your into

:)

as trevor says, matched shocks and springs will give a better ride than a generic set of non dampening coilovers.

I sold my fixed coilovers for an adjustable dampening set, coilover rides can often be harsh.
