1st Service

Featured Replies

My Superb 1.8TSI SE is exactly a year old and for passed week the MFD has been counting down "service due" in 7,6,5, etc days,.anyway it says every time I switch the ignition on "service now", with a bleep.Phoned dealer to book it in and he said I am on some variable something or other and it isnt due yet,as I have only done 6000 miles. He said to ignore the indicator and that the service is actually due when a "red spanner" logo appears in the display.

So I have 2 issues, folks, I would be grateful for your advice....a)is he right or talking nonsense and B) how can I turn off the bleeping "service now" diplay on the MFD ??????? Thanks everyone

My supplying dealer recommended that they set my Superb's service intervals to "fixed" due to their knowledge that I do a lot of short journey and only do abot 9k miles a year. I think that they gave good advice. Did your dealer do the same for you? because the car is delivered with variable servicing by default.

I didnt actually buy it brand new...it was 3 months old previously registered to VAG with 3000 miles on the clock.....I may just get it done anyway...how much do you reckon..about £160-£180 ?????

hi-Ian

after 12 months mine said 3000 miles to go before service, but had it serviced anyway i don't like to leave the oil in longer than 12 months.it should not cost that much its only a oil and filter change that you need.to reset the service in the maxdot go to setup and then scroll down to service you can reset there.bill

My first service on 09 170 bhp diesel at main dealer cost below £70. the next was about £130 now changed to variable servicing and still got 11,000 miles to go after already done 8,000.

My 1.8 TSI is on variable servicing and had the first service at 18000 miles, second service is due in 3000 miles according to the MFD, so this will be at 33000 miles. My car says "Service due in....3000 miles" when you start it up. Interesting if your car is counting down time as that would imply it knows when the service is due on time (12 months) rather than on miles.

IIRC the fixed service interval is at 15000km, which is every 9320 miles, which seems a bit short.

That seems very cheap for a first service. I hope they did not fill it with PD oil!!

hi ive done 9800miles in 9 weeks and mine says service due in 523 days or 11800 miles

which i rekon is pretty good !

Double check your invoice for the oil used, many dealers still do not seem to know the oil specs.

My previous Octavia was on variable servicing - happened eventually at about 18 months old and 15000 miles I think.

Current Superb is on 15000 miles and no sign of a service indicator yet.

The OP's original owner must have had it put to fixed servicing (for some bizarre reason), as variable is the standard. What would be interesting is if the MFD or the box of tricks is set to fixed servicing (time based) and you ignore it, does it default to variable, or will it think you have missed the service? I would be wary, as if anything goes clonk, you have (according to your car at least) skipped a service. There must have been a reason for it to be in fixed servicing (low annual mileage probably).

Wrong oil equals DPF problems which the dealer will blame the owner for. Skoda UK insisted that my car was returned to the dealer the next day and Long life oil supplied . Dealer did not know any better it seems.

The oil required by a PD superb is exactly the same 507.01 as required by all cars with DPF including the CR170.

I agree that the price seems to cheap, the oil alone should have cost that without the labour on top.

OP, your car is set to fixed servicing (10K/12months) despite what the dealer is telling you.
