Is this a picture of an Octavia part?

Featured Replies

Hello all, to cut a long story short.

I pick someone up who lives on a farm everyday and today the farmer approached me and handed me this part and said this "i found this in the farmyard and believe this part could be off your vehicle as its not off any of ours" Hmm i though then later i had a good look under my car (Octavia 1.9 Tdi Estate '57) and can not obviously see where it could be from, just a little worried in case its important, my car runs just as normal... The farmers vehicles are 2x landrovers and a 2004 Jeep (possibly a Cheroke). Was hoping someone on here could identify the part and put my mind at rest.

It looks to be some kinda half of a clamp its very lightweight probably aluminium with a rubber/plastic insert

Thanks in advance.

Is it a fixing bracket for part of the exhaust?

Is it a fixing bracket for part of the exhaust?

No

It looks like a steering rack clamp?

Not like any VAG part I've ever seen. Also, there should be at least SOME numbering/branding on the part, to identify it.

I agree, does look like a clamp of some sort. As if there's something cylindrical that goes through the middle, then a mirror of that part on the other side, to hold whatever in place....

Thanks for your fast replies, there is no manufacturers stamp on it at all, it measures roughly 11cm long by 4cm wide, the mystery continues. Starting to think its off some farming machinery, well im hoping so :D

It looks like a anti-roll bar bush clamp. Our land rovers at work have them on the front & rear. How its fallen off i have know idea as there bolted on! Whatever its come off should be making some funny noises!

The anti roll bar bush clamp theory is a strong possibility as the farmer has recently bought 2 second hand land rovers.

Thanks, i'm less worried already

It looks like a anti-roll bar bush clamp.

Wow that would be some anti-roll bar at 80mm diameter!!

Didnt look at size, just picture! Its probably off some large farm machinery then!

That was my first thought - but then it's far too clean for that :giggle:

Whatever it is I would imagine the bushes have been replaced, as you don't get many red OE bushes.

A clamp of that size with a plastic insert, I would guess would come off a piece of Ag equipment. Something with large hydraulic pipes like an hedge trimmer, the plastic insert would be to stop any chaffing of the pipes.

Interesting, looking like i will return it to the farmer. So can anyone say for sure its defo not of my octavia then?, thx

Cannot say for defo without getting underneath for a good look, but looking at the design of the clamp I'd say it more than likely off a piece of Ag equipment, I spent over 20 years driving tractors and I've seen similar in my work.

Just because it´s a Skoda the farmer thinks you are leaving parts behind.

Duuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh :wall:

Ive recently dropped the front suspension and also changed the rear axle on my octy estate and never seen anything that looks like that and by the appearance of it its a heavy duty 4x4 part and not off a car.

Brilliant, many thanks to everyone who replied to this, decided to take the part back to the farmer.. . thx again

Yep, right call. As I say, if it was a Skoda part, you'd see some part information imprinted somewhere on it.
