I took delivery of my new Octavia vRS last week (already got 1200 miles on it) and loving it!

Got a question around the Fiscon Basic Plus unit that I have had installed today. I have tried searching the forums but can't seem to find a definitive answer on this one! Basically, the functionality is fine on the Bolero touch screen head unit but it doesn't seem to interface with the Maxidot unit as I thought it would. I can't find any options in the menus at all and have nothing related to my phone on the display. The place that installed the Fiscon took it round to a VW dealer in order to get the relevant VAGCOM coding done but they say that they cannot find the relevant options and have taken my VIN number to refer the issue to Fiscon. I dont have much confidence that things will get sorted via this route :'(

I also thought that I would be able to stream audio via bluetooth using the 'BT-Audio' button in the MEDIA interface menu on the Bolero but this also seems to be inoperable. The option is greyed out even though the Bluetooth audio option is ticked. Any advice on the above two question would be greatly appreciated. I spent a fair bit of money on this installation and just want to get the best out of my investment.

Other than that...the car is amazing. Went for the petrol/manual so worth pointing out that the car does not have a MFSW.

Sure...I got mine fitted by In Car Electronix in Loughborough, Leicestershire. I've used them before and they are generally very helpful

The Fiscon still works with FL models, only you don't get the extras in maxidot such as boost pressure etc. The manual has instructions as to the specific address that needs recoding, I'd dig mine out but have just moved house and it's in a box somewhere!

True - 'issues' are that the E-MFA add on masquerades on the CANBUS as a 'Navigation System' so your CAN Gateway will be permanently throwing up errors saying it is coded incorrectly as it has detected a Navigation system. If you code for Navigation, guess what, you then get errors that the Navigation system is not responding.

The hands free quality on the Fiscon is brilliant, and TBH I wouldn't worry about it not being on the Maxidot if you have the Plus version and a Bolero or Columbus.

I'm thinking about getting the Fiscon plus for the octavia so I would be interested where you fitted the control unit? The current nokia unit I'm using fits behind the ashtray unit, is there enought room under here for the Fiscon?

As andyvee says, plenty of room for the control unit...the real pain is that the connector between the control unity and the head unit is a big hunk of plastic just fractionally larger than the gap behind the bolero and on a length of cable that mans its hard to position anywhere else other than behind the bolero without taking more of the fascia to bits...I think others have managed to squeeze theirs in elsewhere, in a fit of despair I managed to squeeze mine in behind the bolero then screw the bolero back in so that the displacement is not noticeable, not before skinning my knuckles trying to coerce the thing into position!

Hint - you can take the existing quadlock out through the side of the cage with a bit of effort, and then get all the wiring in behind the A/C controls, and then take the quadlock from the Fiscon back up to the back of the HU.
