1.4 TSI stage 1 and 2 and stage 2+ results

Featured Replies

Im sure you've probably realised im on the look out for a remap, but not many have released dyno graphs for it yet.

The 1.4 TSI (180) engine is pretty new now, but the manufacturers are starting to produce maps now.  REVO as normal being the most publicised.

thought id post the results up. as i know there are a couple on here running the 1.4TSI be it the 140/160/170 or 180ps versions.  Fundementally identical engines with the same output once tuned as the ECU maps are the only differing factor.

Heres REVOs published stage 1

Stage 1 = predicted 210-225hp

http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=show_news&id_nws=59

stage 2 = predicted 218hp-233Hp

http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=show_news&id_nws=60

When myself and many other spoke to REVO they said they had made 246hp repeatedly but maybe they deemed 246hp to be to much!!

Heres REVO stage 1(with an ITG maxogen intake iirc)

Heres stage 2

I think that torque curve/plateau is pretty impressive.  No surge, no drop off just pretty much constant throughout

Heres a REVO stage 1 1.4TSI(150) Ibiza Fr.  This should be identical to the TSI(180) when mapped.  Add the intake and theres an easy 215hp there i think.  Why buy the cupra!!

i think 236hp in a 1240kg will be very nice indeed. And considering the stage 1 cars manage 13.5 secondf 1/4 miles at the pod with more than a few of them getting low 5 second 0-60's @ GTI international i think stage 2 could be pretty impressive.  Maybe even sub 13 seconds with some weight loss action

I will also add that its unlikely ill be going with REVO. Im looking into shark performance first, hoipefully very very soon, however if they cant crack the ECU, im thinking of APR or P-Torque, then Jabbasport. Then id consider the REVO. Just thought it would be interesting to have a look at, as they are the only ones with graphs released so far.

This is the APR stage 1 remap on a 1.4TSI(160)

just tought it might wet your appetite, and get some of you moving towards a remap, because the vRS needs it :p

updated to released stage 2 graphs

isn't one of the superchips bonuses that they garuntee, the same as you OE warrenty any parts that will fail, if they are affected bythe remap, and therefore not now covered by your warrenty?

Revo all the way

They did last time i checked

Revo all the way

 POV iirc you had a nightmare trying to prove to them that there was an issue with their software or the engine that their map was highlighting. I remember correctly there was valvesprings or something causing it, but REVO were of no help.

On VAGOC there are alot of guys with S3's having issues with their maps @ the moment, on the 2.0TSI there were big issues with boost problems on their stage 2. Carl on here had his REVO dealer informing them that the stage 2+ map was causing his issue, but still they refuse to accept it.

I dont doubt that REVO always make the best figures of the tuners, the proof is in the pudding, and when the maps are working they are very good, but if I get an issue, 2 weeks down the line, id like customer support.

its not a new engine at all, its about 3 years+ and maps have been out for a long time!!!!

The only difference between this and the golf mk5 version is the map and a different (newer) ECU.

To be honest i think the map is identical to the older ones, they always made more than 140/170bhp anyway :giggle:

Cracking little motor, stage 1 is the way to go for £-per-horsepower.

that exactly the point, the newer cars have had to have alot of R&D into the maps becaue of the new ECU. otherwise why would the likes of REVO who have had the golf TSI(140)map out for ages, have put months of R&D into new maps when the maps they already had worked fine....

Bottom line for me is, if Stage 1 gets me 0-60 in 5 seconds or there abouts, I'll strongly consider it. It also has to be reliable of course. Shark seem to get very good reviews on here so they would appear to be #1 choice. Got a bit of time to wait though :)

im off to a dyno dynamics rolling road at 1400, so ill have a baseline to work off. im off to nottingham for tweakage on sunday, but theres no guarantee that the encryption can be cracked by them yet

please post the standard graph up, would be interesting to see if it makes circa 195bhp as som eothers have.... assuming you have some miles upder your belt, I know you havenm't had the car long... I'm up to 3200 and it feels alot better now than when new, fuel economys increased too. :)

Im uploading now. It made exactly what stock figures make. 180 PS = 177Hp. It made.......176.5hp. maybe 1-3hp more available when its slightly more ran in. Only covered 154miles so far.

just had mine on the rolling road  180ps =177hp and my car made 176.5hp.   Funny that, REVOs Fabia made 194hp stock  so their map is actially making about 204hp and not 228hp

As ive said in many threads, take your car to a dyno dynamics rolling road and it will make stock power. take it to AMD or other pants dynos and you'll gain 20hp+ :giggle:

Popped over to the Fabia forum to see how you're getting on Sy - weren't you getting remapped this weekend?

How are you finding the DSG?

Dave

how do dave

Was meant to get it mapped on sunday ben, but i pulled out on the thursday due to commitments. Prob handy as well i guess as theres only 200 miles on the clock at the moment. Will be going up in may instead now

loving the DSG, takes a bit of getting used to, but its bloody good

revo have released their stage 2 graphs now overlaid onto the curves of a stock and stage 1 power curve so you can see the actual gains.

I asked a few questions about the cars and their modifications.

All runs are from the same car. The all curves are with the standard intake. The stage 2 curve has a turbo back exhaust only.

Stage 2 doesnt look like a huge gain over stage 1 however the graphs are scaled quite small. It looks to be a 10-15Hp gain from 3300-5700rpm, and looks like a constant 15NM torque increase across the entire rev band. So it will definitely be more drivable thoughout.

As said above that is with the stock intake, which could potentially add 10Hp+ onto those figures. REVO say that without addtional modifications such as the intercooler they cant reliably run any more power without creating to much heat. SO they are due to release a stage 2+ setup, which will reuqire all the avilable modifications including , Full exhaust system, intake and intercooler. This is what they say will produce the 246hp they originally claimed

Interesting that the torque for Stage 1 is identical to standard over 2,700-3,000 rpm but greater outside this range. Why should that be?

probably to make it tractable, to much torque initially and you'll light up the tyres. and maybe even to protect the clutch and gear box

But the increase in torque below 2,700 is quite considerable.

 Good thinking! Nothing to re-map!

fair point, never thought of that
