Columbs and OPS

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am still doing research on how to get the visuals for the reverse sensors to display. Skodateile have the updated controller part number 1ZO 919 475B which is capable of displaying the graphics.

http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=152&menu=%C5%A0koda

The car is a 8/2008 vRS Octavia TDi, with factory fitted rear sensors and Columbus retrofitted.

Has anyone fitted this? Is it a straight swap or as some VW forums say, there needs to be some rewiring conducted? (I have not found any answer re the Octavia) I have read somewhere the controller address may be different.

http://vwnavi.com/showthread.php/7823-Parking-sensors-on-RNS-display/page14 has a chap that seems to indicate that it is a straight swap for a Jetta

This is what I currently have fitted:

Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 1K0-907-530.lbl

Part No SW: 1K0 907 530 Q HW: 1K0 907 951

Component: J533__Gateway H16 0202

Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 1Z0-919-283.lbl

Part No SW: 1Z0 919 283 B HW: 1Z0 919 283 B

Component: Parkhilfe 4-Kan H04 0020

Coding: 0001021

Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000

Any advice or pointers greatly appreciated.

I had found this thread but it talks about not knowing if it is applicable to 2008 and later cars. As such, I am still unsure as to what is required:-(

Im doing this on my facelift octavia 09 model...

First I think u need a revision E can gateway...

will have to replace the can gateway if its not .....

I'm hoping (mostly wrong) but maybe its just a straight swap !!!

have you fitted the columbus ??

why dont you catch hold of a moderator and have this post shifted in the octavia section (maybe you have it here for a reason )

but you will definetly get a lot more help there !!!

Hi,

The Columbus is fitted and seems to work well.

This is the can gateway I have. If I am reading it correctly I have a revision H, please correct me if I am wrong.

I have seen some threads where it has been plug and play, others that have to rewire the plugs. Still none the wiser.

You have a revision Q gateway, which is compatible with OPS, but you must rewire the sensors and CAN connection because you have an old type park assist controller at address 76. Rewiring is not required only if you have a new type controller at address 10.

Thanks Josi,

That clears it up.

On a side issue, did you ever get to try the Dension gateway five?

Hi all, I bought a complete OPS system off the net with sensors, loom and module included. The seller advised me that I would need a new can gateway (my car is a sept 2007 car) and this would come in handy as I am also retrofitting an RNS510 with the latest firmware on it. The gateway they sent me just arrived and is 7N0 907 530C...am I correct in thinking this is not a new enough version to support OPS or prevent battery drain issues associated with the Columbus unit and is useless to me??

Thanks in advance,

Alan

No, 7N0 907 530C is one of the newest revisions and it must work fine with OPS.

I have a 2005 octavia II, a Columbus was installed and my car has a factory parking sensor (front/rear). In my case, a new can gateway was needed, also a new OPS sensor modul some wiring and a new beeper-speaker for the front and wiring also, cause there was only 1 beeper that made 2 different sounds, but the OPS couldn't handle 1 speaker/beeper for 2 diff sounds, had to install a new one.

Just starting to panic and I've just purchased a genuine kit of front & rear sensors with looms and controller that has part number 1Z0 919 475 C for my Octy II early 2007. This is obviously quite different part code to the discussion above so I have a few questions that are related:

The kit has two speakers, where do these go on the vehicle?

I believe I need a new CAN Gateway (1K0 907 530 L or later). Is this correct and is 1K0 907 530 AA later than 'L'?

Will any RNS-510 unit work with the above, or do I need to look for any particular part number, HW or SW versions?

Thanks to anyone who can help me. Apologies if anyone feels I'm hijacking this thread.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but was just wondering if you got through the task of fitting it successfully? The reason I take interest in it is that I'm in kind of a similar si****ion here and any input/suggestion would be of great help here.

Thank you.

Fitted and working. I've also helped another Briskodian fit rear PDC & OPS with a Bolero.

PDC & OPS works fully on mine. Did have to play tricks on it with VCDS to get it working, but shows picture of an estate car on the screen.

I can post part numbers if needed, but probably better if you ask specific questions and I'll answer them.

Thanks for the reply. I own a Octy II 2004 which already has the 1Z0 919 283 Parking System in and wanted to upgrade to 1Z0 919 475. Was wondering if it is a direct Plug and Play or will need coding.

I believe that it is a question of swapping the boaxes over and then you will almost certainly need some coding doing to enable OPS (as this would probably not have been an option on the older box).

But I have not checked the functionality of the the 919 475 controller to ensure that it is compatible.

It should be pretty straightforward with VCDS though. Coding in the CAN, the HU and the PDC Controllers may be needed.

OPS is already enabled in my Car, I get the distance as "bars", the number depending on the distance. Any idea if it will still require coding?

Are you upgrading to a Columbus?

If not, why are you upgrading your controller?

If you are, the Columbus will need coding in any way, so any OPS coding that might be needed can be done at the same time with VCDS.

Yes, that's exactly what I was contemplating of. Thanks for the help.
