Missing History

Featured Replies

Well people this is my first post on here, have looked at a number of Vrs's on the internet and have recently emailed a private seller on Pistonheads about about a silver vrs forsale with 77k on the clock, but now the seller tells me that the history between 10k and 75k is missing!!..My question being do skoda dealerships keep centralized records of vechile servicing?..Would i say be able to go into my local Skoda dealership, and get them to print off what records they have?

I have done this before with a Mk4 GTTDI Golf which had a number of gaps, and the VW dealer was able to print off everything, im assuming Skoda would be the same?

If the servicing was done at a skoda dealer they should have some record. Try giving them the registration number. I had this with my bike the other day, took it for service and they stamped my book up for me because the previous owner had forgotten to take the service book in for stamps. All the info was on there computer.

Hi m8, might be worth doing a milage check just incase. If you get the mot or v5 number and enter it into the vosa website you'll get a mot history, which shows fails and adviseries aswell as milage at each mot.

This is the car in question,is this a fair price considering the paint issues?, have noticed aswell that price of the vrs seem to vary quite a bit!!

For that kind of money you could have Martyn1976's WRC limited edition which I think is newer and has less miles, plus a few extra toys such as xenon headlights because it is the WRC edition.

Personally I'd stay away from a car with missing or no service history...it's very risky and will always put off potential buyers if you have to sell.

I bought a golf V6 4mo which was missing history and it had massive issues, turned out it had been in a massive smash and none of the safety features like the ABS or the AWD system were working!

As previously said theres better cars out there for less money or similar to the one above and buying a car like this you need to take your time and get the right one..I viewed a few before the one I have now and it's stood up well so far

Seems expensive, no history and paint issues, better value cars out there if you keep looking.

Bought mine without history and an in-op MIL, at the time it was about a grand below book, took a gamble so far it's paid off, only problems have been thermostats and CTS, coil packs and FARB bushes. Two weeks after buying the Octy took the PITA white carpet out to clean and found the service book with all the Skoda stamps in itemoticon-0140-rofl.gif.

Thought it was a tad over priced myself considering the things wrong.Have noticed a number of VRS's for sale with missing or gaps in the service history, seem to always be over important milages such as when its time for a major service or a belt change!!

When I bought my MK2 VRS about 18 months ago I was told by my local dealer and the servicing dealer that Skoda dealers are not interlinked. I had a reciept for it's first service but had to send the service book away to the servicing dealer to have the book stamped. That was 18 months ago so things might have changed... but without receipts I think it will be hard. A WRC for 3k seems a much better proposition
