Adjusting microphone volume?

Featured Replies

I finally got my Superb Estate this week and everything is as great as I expected, except one thing: When I use the bluetooth, people have complained that the microphone volume is too low and that it's hard to hear what I'm saying. Of course I could speak louder, but the easiest thing would be to adjust the microphone volume.

I looked through both the telephone setup on the columbus and the maxidot, but didn't find anything. Did I miss it, or isn't it possible to adjust it?

And another thing, where is the factory mounted microphone located?

Cheers :)

Volume settings are set up through Columbus.

I'm pretty certain the mic is in the light fitting in the ceiling, there are 2 slotted square grilles up there, one is the mic.

Yes, the mic is in the light fitting. its sensitivity cannot be adjusted. Maybe there is something wrong with the OPs, as I can have a phone conversation talking as normal. You wouldn't want to make it more sensitive as all it will do is pickup engine and other background noise.

Various in-vehicle factors can have an effect on mic performance - some obvious, road noise or window open etc but some are not so obvious such as having the air-con or blowers on - even a trickle of air directed at the roof lining can reduce output. Next time on a call close all windows and turn as much off as you can (safely).

You shouldn't have to talk loudly for a clear call.

Are you connected RSAP of HFP? Could also be an issue with your phone.

The microphone sensitivity can be adjusted from -6dB to + 6dB using the VAS tester at the dealers or VCDS.

Interesting. Do you also know which bit / byte has to be adjusted?
