  • The breeze wasn't my friend this morning in the Hope Valley........ A2 Pacific Blue Peter blasts through Edale with it's first revenue earning train in approx. 22 years after an extensive overhaul.

  • Here are some from my Lofoten Islands, Norway trip to shoot northern lights. It was an excellent trip, very cold but worth it.

My son knows more about the trains than I do unless it’s the 70s or 80s! A bit of a mixed bag on the ECML The longer LNER Azumas that are fast to London or the cross country type services which I think this is one of, which stop more frequently usually 4/5 coaches. Was on a two coach train the other day on the old Waverly route. Not a good experience. lol

Funnily enough, I wondered about using an extreme ND filter to see the eclipse, but luckily remembered it didn't have any UV protection, so it would still have been potentially dangerous.

I was surprised to see a chap on the BBC website saying he damaged his eyes in the last eclipse, looking at the sun through a welder's mask. I would have thought this would have been sufficient, but I've since read they aren't usually filtered enough. Something to do with a rating of 12 or above being needed (I assume this is pretty dark?)

Here's what I got with a plate of welders mask glass taped to my Pixel 9a
