side lights

Featured Replies

hey, really struggling to get into the side lights on my 2008 1.4 tdi s. there doesn't seem to be enough room to get into the connector. does anyone know of an easier way to get in. nearly ripped my hand to bits trying to get in. cheers steve :S

Same problem as I'm having as well, a way we are thinking of trying is to remove the wheels and the arch liner and you can get in that way a lot easier.

Hi just done mine they are a pain and you will loose some skin in the process, this is what I did

1 remove dust cover from back of bulb housing

2 drop the cover to the bottom of the car(I am ham fisted so could'nt help it)

3 get can of small WD40 with its little red straw

4 give a precise spray into the housing directly where the bulb holder is

5 wait a couple of minutes and pull on the holder it may take a while I grabbed the wires and just yanked eventually it gives

6 remove the unit until you can she the bulb and replace with new bulb

7 replace the bulb into the hole from once it came bit of giggling about here and guide it in

8. replace the dust cover if you have not dropped it to the bloody bottom!

and hey presto you have new bulbs

I replaced mine with phillips blue light much better

I have done this if you take the screws out of the inner plastic wheel arch it moves out of the way put your hand between wing and arch on the back of the bulb holder press two tabs in and push out. replace bulb and push back in refit plastic inner arch.

OR, pop to halfords, pay the nice man a tenner... :D
