Which Sping set and ARB?

Featured Replies

(Sorry should say springs :giggle: )

Hi Guys

I was looking at spending my bonus on a new interior but cant really convince myself let lone the wife in parting with £800 for it. It will look great but I just cant justify the dosh.

So looking at improving the looks and cornering of my Black Magic 2006 VRS. I have colour coded the front grill and added a Seat Leon front splitter which has vastly improved the front end looks. But it still looks a bit high and there is a large space between the arches and tyres that could be reduced. Therefore:-

Which set of lowering springs have you guys got and which ones do you recommend? Any problems fitting them? Have you got any before and after pics? What was the ride like after fitting them? How far did you lower it?

What to improve the looks and ride but dont want to rattle my fillings out. Pockets arnt deep enough for a full set of coils and dampers, so just looking at springs atm.

Which ARB? whiteline, Jabba etc? What are you experiences fitting and driving the car afterwards?

Cheers

I'm in the same boat, but I'm after shock as well, not coil overs. As far as the both roll bar gos its jabba all the way, It's thicker then the others

Ment anti roll bar. Lol Bloody predictive text on this phone

I had exactly the same issue when I purchased mine! I then bought a set of supersport lowering springs as they gave the largest drop. Was still disappointed with the handling so I bought a seat front strut brace and whitenline rear anti roll bar. I went the the whiteline one as it has 3 settings where I believe the jabba has only 2! Car was vastly improved. I have recently purchased some Jom coilovers after reading good reviews on here and at 200 quid i wish I'd have purchased these to start with. They are extremely well made and ride very well (forget springs). car now feels complete, very planted on the road and handles like a go kart. I'd recommend these mods anyday!!!!

I have 25mm eibach springs and a whiteline rarb and it handles brilliantly

springs only you want eibachs

spring and shock combo im unsure if AP do a kit but they will be your best value for money and are quite good!

Lol at the jabba anti roll bar 2 settings :S

As mentioned if your going for just springs then there's few better options then the Eibach Pros and match them with a Whiteline rear ARB and you'll be good to go.

Damian @ DPM Performance

there are no settings on the jabba. its just thinker then the whitline

Eibach -25mm springs with a jabba anti roll bar. Nice compliant ride with much better cornering and a touch of predictable lift off over steer if required :)

there are no settings on the jabba. its just thinker then the whitline

No it has 2! on and off :giggle:

I would recomend when changing springs to uprate the dampers aswell as if yuo go for a spring which has a large change in height then the shocks are going to die! they are no designed to run that low.

Ideally fit the RARB first, then look into the springs and shocks. a few ppl on here are happy with the just the RARB, im regreting not getting one atm as the car has Weitec GTs atm but its still a little sloppy :(

oh riggght get ya now lol

Thanks for the replys guys I will check them all out later when I get the kids into bed.

Basically was looking for the RARB for handling and the springs for looks but to retain the ride quality.

The ultimate choice for me is whether to get Eibach springs, or those JOM coilovers. I think the coilovers are likely to last longer than me just replacing the springs as my oem dampers have seen 130k already and i think lowering springs on them will be the death of em.

Just curious to see if the JOM coilies are going to be okay ride quality wise. Whiteline rarb is a definate purchase for me in the next month or so.

Iv had my jom coilies on a month now and am very impressed with the ride quality! Everyone bangs on about budget coilies not lasting long and been shocking build quality but I can honestly say my these are a better ride than the 600 quid fk ones I had on my previous golf! Can't comment on the amount of time they last as iv only had them a month but as long as your not belting round a track everyday they should be fine and i have read nothing but good reviews!
