Headlights popping at the same time?

Featured Replies

What are the chances of both headlights going at the same time?

I've got POS1 Side light but no POS2 Dipped headlights...........Every other light is ok!

the little error light flashes on my central display though.

Had a quick look, and it looks quite hard to change the bulbs too..........Is it a big job?

You need someone with very small hands :giggle: Its not fun, only done it once, a long time ago.

not seen them both go at the same time, but sometimes within a day of each other, possibly one has gone and popped the fuse so there both out, have a check through the fuses, save trying to change the bulbs

Have they gone at the same time though? A lot of people dont notice one bulb gone but only when the second one goes and suddenly no light.

Mine both went within a day of each other last time!

We had a customer whose dipped beams blew within a few months of having 2 new bulbs. We noticed that the headlamps were flickering quite noticeably. As the power steering is quite a large electricity consumer and has a few shortcomings regarding reliability on these cars, we checked it out with readings from the sensor and power consumption, it was fine.

We came to the conclusion that the battery was not letting the electricity get through the system well enough, hence the headlamps flickering, with the consequential fatiguing of the filaments as they heated and cooled.

We put a new battery on and the headlamps have stopped blowing bulbs.

That's interesting, and I feel highlights the importance of using better quality batteries with higher capacity and better cranking amps ratings like Bosch Silver Plus - I think most people overlook this important part of the car and throw the cheapest they can get in there.
