How do you remove the inboot CD changer?

Featured Replies

As in the title, trying to take out my multi changer from the boot as I have sold it (up graded to Bolero) but can not get the bloody thing out! it looks like you need extraction keys, so tried the old hacked up credit card trick and nope.

I even removed all the carpet/ lining from that side of the boot and then wished to god I hadn't when I tried to put it back it :@

Any advice peeps?

Cheers

Chris.

Screwdriver and a bit of force has worked for me in the past.

How are they held in to the plastic cage out of interest?

Is it easy enough to remove the cage afterwards to free up the space?

So do you pop the screwdriver into the two holes or underneath the changer?

Other option is to just remove the cage and then smash it to get the multi stack out. I would like to leave it in one piece, so I can retro fit parking sensors and pop the control box in it.

Tried popping into Skoda today and they said "you will have to book the car in" no thank you!

The cage is easy enough to remove, not sure how the changer comes out-maybe two very thin flat head screwdrivers in the slots?

Or try popping into your local Halfords-they just might be kind enough to lend you the tool or do it for you??

I've never bothered trying TBH. It's not doing any harm sat there was my view...

Plus it hooks upto the Bolero, so you get the ability to have 12 CDs loaded in total, if required :)

I have just done this myself and the slots are confusing as the catches are actually at the side of the unit. To remove I used a thin metal blade about 5mm from the bottom at the right hand side first, gently pulled the unit forward on that side so that the catch is disengaged and the did the same on the left hand side - the unit should just slide out now.

Hope this helps

Easiest way I found is to pull back the carpeting and use a nut driver on the two 10mm bolts that holds the bracket in place. Once that's off it's easy access to the four screws on the sides and gravity can be used to get the unit sliding out.
