Tyre pressure warning light

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Has anyone ever had there tyre pressure warning light come on for no reason?

I had just traveled approx 400 motorway miles when it came on, I pulled over at my first opertuinity and checked the tyre pressures. They were all as they should be (id checked them the night before).

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi wat pressure setting have u in ur tyres ? There's a tyre set button on ur gear stick press on that to set ur new pressure hold it down till u hear a bong

  • Author

I did pup the tyres up to what it suggests on the inside of the fuel flap for 4 people plus luggage the night befre and forgot to reset it.

However I would have expected it to complain a lot sooner into my trip that it did if that was the problem.

When the warning light has come on & you have checked/adjusted your tyre pressures how do you get rid of the warning light please.

Any help appreciated,(Elegance combi)

Once pressures are correct; Press and hold the tyre set button when the car is stationary.

If the warning light cones back on then I guess there is a problem- either with tyres or sensors?

hi all

sorry to open a thread again but having these problems.. when plugged into vcds it comes up trailer and tire pressure unreachable?

any ideas?

could it be the CAN or is there another box that could be faulty?

Rather than triple posting across two different model forums, it's probably best to start a new thread with an autoscan from VCDS.

I Dont get many answers on posts there. So stuck to the threads that people have commented helpful answers. Admins prefer you dont start new threads without going through existing

Thanks for the great help though.

If it's the same problem and recent it's worth using the same thread. In this instance it's a 5 year old thread and none of the participants have been online for over 2 years. The only issue here was not reading the manual, I assume you've tried 'the fix' mentioned of pressing the button with zero success?

On to the problem that you do have.

Without seeing what modules are installed and how they are configured it's hard to offer advice. You haven't even given a decent description of the problem... To confirm, the TPMS light is on and when scanned you've got two unreachable modules?

From where you've posted, you either have a MK2 Octavia or MK2 Superb, probably a pre-FL MK2 Octavia looking at your profile. As you list 170bhp that suggests a vRS yet in a previous autoscan you've posted it's a BKD which is a 140bhp engine. Is this the same car you're asking about in this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/378797-coding-for-a-replacement-comfort-control-unit-help/

In that car, it's probably indirect TPMS which is normally done by the ABS module - do you still have the wheel sensor faults? If so that could explain the TPMS light being on.

Is it a factory fit, aftermarket or bypass style trailer module?

In this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/373827-lock-problem-following-vcds/ you post a scan for what I assume is the same car in a much better state. Notice there is no mention of a separate TPMS or trailer module fitted suggesting a bypass style unit.

Am I even close to being right with these assumptions? If so:

- Check it's a bypass trailer module by physically locating it and finding a part number

- Get the installation list fixed by removing module 65 and 69

- Clear any fault codes and post a new scan

At that point we might have a chance of actually helping :)

thanks for the reply! yes it is the bkd 140bhp 2.0 octavia. mapped.

print out is below.

the wheel sensor faults were gone.

Check it's a bypass trailer module by physically locating it and finding a part number (found in boot) worked with no codes until lately)

- Get the installation list fixed by removing module 65 and 69 (removed in can bus module but light still on dash)

- Clear any fault codes and post a new scan

thank you for your help sorry if i seemed abrupt earlier!

Did you get a part number or anything from the trailer module? Do the lights work if a trailer is connected?

On that autoscan, there is zero communication with a trailer module although at least one module looks like it's been coded to think it should be there:

- If it's an OEM or similar module, then there is a problem with either power, ground, CAN or the module itself.

- If it's a bypass module, then the car needs coding to stop it trying to communicate with it.

As for '02214 - Tire Pressure Warning', that suggest the system just needs resetting as per these instructions: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Brake_Electronics_(MK70)#Tire_Pressure_Monitoring_System_Reset

Have you tried them?

No worries. It's just much easier if the information is included in the first post as it saves trawling around the forum trying to find it.

As this is now a thread in the Superb section it's going to be harder for future Octavia owners to find it which is why it's a good idea to start new threads, they can be merged or moved if needed ;)

as for the tyre pressure issue problem sorted thanks lad

good point it might be able to get moved!

many thanks again!

as for the tyre pressure issue problem sorted thanks lad

Excellent!

The zr2000 is a bypass style module so the car shouldn't be aware it's there. We need to code out the towing module to get rid of those errors.

Basically check each section of this guide and do the opposite http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Trailer_Hitch_Retrofitting_(1K) :)
