Possible Group Buy For Fabia Vrs Sump Guard

Featured Replies

hi guys this is just an idea ive had a chat with my mate over and hes willing to fabricate sumpguards for the fabia for a tidy price if we get enough numbers....

hes made a few for octavias and they seem to be extremely good.

The 1 guy he made 1 for uses his octavia in local forestries ect and its held very very well

so basically im just getting number to start with then ill get guarenteed prices.

if you want please add names to the list

cheers

andrew

Interested. Price dependant.

Including delivery I'm going to say anything between 140 and 160. I also had more detail that the sump guard will be 4mm thick

nobody interested??

usually people will rip someones arm off for these.

only need 5 - 10 people

I'm interested, beware there is another guy working on a sump guard as we speak, if you do a quick search i'm sure you will find the thread.

oh i see. well its down to whoever is interested. if we only get 5 ill see what he has to say im confident he will do us a good deal its just delivery thats a bitch. if people wanted to come down i reckon he would fit them for a small charge.

I'd be interested price dependant and if you could get it to sit higher than the current plastic one?

I'm interested, local to you as well, so saves on delivery

Just out of interest, how much does he charge for an octy one??

sorry ive missed the threads!

im going to say its going to sit as tight as possible to everything underneath so you can get your maximum drop or whatever your using it for!

raf i believe for the octy he charged around £180 but hed need you to come down for that as hes using my car as the test car to get all the guards made.

hope this helps!

I could be interested, but I'm loathe to promise £150-£180 for something I've not seen. In principle, yes, but I want to see the prototype before I definitely say yea or ney.

This was started in March. Check the date ;)

after having no replies i didnt bother having mine done

but seeing as i have 2 weeks off im sure i could arrange something. just need to speak to him

Could you give an approximate price?

Just to mention on this one, seeing as I spotted the thread. The mounting points for a metal guard might cause issues for people running an FMIC, especially the Forge.

So if there's development going on for the template, you'll really need a donor card running the std SMIC, and then one with an FMIC ideally :thumbup:

Just thought I'd mention it...

Apologies for my ignorance.

What is an FMIC and an SMIC?

Where is the Forge?

FMIC = Front Mounted Intercooler

SMIC = Side Mounted Intercooler

Forge = a manufacturer of performance car parts, in this case specifically FMICs.

Most turbo cars (including all Skodas) are fitted with a SMIC as standard, very few cars actually come with an FMIC from the factory. FMICs provide better cooling but are more vulnerable to damage, as they sit at the front of the car right behind the bumper, rather than being tucked up in a corner like a SMIC (you generally have to modify the front bumper to fit an FMIC in and gain the benefits from it). FMICs are also more expensive by virtue of the simple fact they are generally larger and sturdier than a SMIC, in addition to the fact they tend to be aftermarket parts.

If you need to know what an intercooler actually does, probably best you consult Google or Wikipedia, but the long and short of it is it cools air which has been compressed by a turbocharger (or supercharger) in order to make it denser and provide better combustion (i.e. more POWER!!!)
