Hi everyone, i own a fabia 1.9 sdi Y reg, there has been a noise like a tapping and knocking coming from what i thought was the passenger side front wheel bearing, however it has got a lot worse and is very noisy now, finally tracked down noise to be coming fron drivers side gearbox flange it is loose thinking that it could be the flange shaft. its definatley not the drive shaft there is no play in that.

does anyone know if you can just replace the flange shaft or is it a new gearbox?

If you are lucky it could be that the fixing screw for the flange shaft has become loose
