Heater faults, insp light and suspension issues

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm a few weeks in of owing an 06 plate Fabia VRS, and i've spent a lot of time gradually sorting out all manner of issues. This is also my first post so hello and please go easy on me!! :smirk:

I've borrowed a VCDS cable for the first time, and there are a couple of faults on the heater:

01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154)

30-00 - Open or Short to Plus

01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154)

55-00 - Adaptation Not Successful

Trying to clear these faults fails - they just immediately reappear. I've had a look on the forum and aside from proceeding to replace the motor I'm strugling to find any tips of anything I could try first... Anyone got any suggestions? I know electronics so is there a procedure to test the motor or position sensor?

Now another issue is trying to clear off the INSP spanner thing - I've followed the procedure to write '0' to Instrument Cluster (17) > Adaptation (10) > Channel 002 - and the spanner does go off (the value before writing the zero is '11'). However when I next turn on the ignition it's immediately back again. Could someone confirm that this is because of the outstanding heater faults that is causing this or is there something else I can check?? No other modules are reporting faults.

Other issues on my current to do list are:

- Noisy front suspension. The dealer reckons new wishbone bushes on both sides and N/S drop link needed :( Anyone suggest a decent garage in the Sheffield area that's cheaper than the dealer? Are the bushes standard for the Fabia I or are they uprated on the VRS?

- Handbrake cable seems to be binding/rubbing a bit when you bring the handbrake on. Any tips on what to check?

- EGR valve slight oil leak. I've cleaned it up and keeping an eye on it for now to see if it's still leaking...

- Fix rattly speaker grille

- Look into a cruise control retrofit...

Thanks very much guys!!
